Sweat caused water damage

Seems to be a lot of posts about water damage. I swam fine with it in the late summer / fall. But the last two weeks when I do the peleton bike my arms sweat so much it seems to cause water damage. I see water droplets at the back inside where the sensor is. Now after a week of struggling to reset it constantly the sensor no longer works and my fitbit can only be used to tell the time and not track anything. Can this be repaired or am I out of luck and have to buy a new one? I've had nothing but issues with the Charge 5.
