Terrible disappointment with the result of the number of steps

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Nice day, I know that it has already been solved a hundred times, but in every topic where I was, it was marked as solved, but no advice helped me. my partner bought me a charge 5 for Christmas and since then we've been trying to do everything. we tried to change the hand, also the setting of the hand, the correct height, restart, the gps is turned off in the charge, because according to the review we bought a watch that lasts 6 days, not two, but we have it synchronized with the mobile and the mobile has the gps always on and enabled for fitbit . I work with my hands and it takes me about 30,000 steps a day, but about 10,000 on my mobile phone. I find it a big disappointment that the watch doesn't know that I'm not walking, but just moving my hands. I think the competition has it so that the mobile knows when I'm standing, and doesn't count hand movements. I don't know what to do, already in the morning, when I get out of bed and shake the pillow, I already have enough steps. is there really no solution? only that someone writes here what is always in the given topic, another marks it as solved even though it is not solved?

What else, my mobile phone is synchronized, but no notifications go to my watch. I don't understand that at all. And cant fond the reason.  thanks in advance for the advice.

Hello @Emilka

Do you have MobileTrack enable ?  This feature uses the phone to add steps and can lead to a wrong and large number of steps

To know if you have Mobile Track, on the Fitbit app on your phone, go to to your profile by clicking the circle with your icon on the top left, you should see a list with your pseudonyme, then the list of your device, and if you have Mobile Track enabled,it will be just under your device.

Oh so, then it is disabled. I have nothing there. 2day was very poor work day, 8000 steps different. Ten thousand (oh my I cant write number, due it is not permited-whats going on here on this forum?) on mobile 18 thousand on Charge5. I realy try all advices from this forum that was about similiar problem. I am so sad. Probably will return it and try another company.

I suggest you do so. However be aware that most brands using a watch or wristband will have the same problem. If you work with your hands they move and the accelerometer of any watch will count that as steps.

If you want an accurate podometer you need a device that goes on your hips or ankle.

How it count steps when you keep hands in pokets?

And why phone can count steps so much better?

Its realy stupid. Such a large company cant set the watch so that it does not count steps when the mobile GPS sees that I am not moving. Such a big advertisement, a lot of bull**ahem** about the most accurate algorithm they have and I don't know what, but this is a complete shame in my opinion.

If you keep your hands in pocket, it will count them badly.

Phone works might be because they typically are in a pocket near the hips. But are you sure they are so much better ? Why do you assume your phone is closer to the truth. If you keep your phone in a handbag that might be even more wrong that a Fitbit. If you do not move your hands like crazy while not walking, Fitbit might be more accurate.

This is not stupid, it is understanding the limitations of the technology you used. Not all devices have mobile GPS and GPS is also not precise. Plus how a GPS can know how much step you did ? Do you feed it your stride length?

Before criticizing, try to understand how it works and its limitations as well as have some critical thinking. Or do you complain to your fridge manufacturer it does not make your coffee too ?

I guess I can estimate a closer number of steps based on my discretion. For example, I don't take steps in the morning when I make my bed, but the fitbit counts tens. Furthermore, my colleague worked beside me, did the same job and we watched together at the watch, her competing company did not count and I was getting higher every moment. I don't understand why you defend it so much, I appreciate the attempt to help, but since this forum is programed realy weird, so is the fitbit algorithm same obviously. I don't know why you take it so personally and attack me. Are they paying you to do advocate for a product?
