Hi there, @Anja58. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post and the image attached. I understand where your concern is coming from, I will be glad to help you to sort this out!

As a first approach, please note that the red light is the oxygen saturation function. For more information, click here

However, if your Charge 5 is stuck on the red light and not showing the green lights nor it's tracking your heart rate, please try restarting your Charge 5 by following these steps

Let me know if the inconvenience persists.

I tried to restart but the red light is still on. There's no green light.
No steps, no heartbeat.
The time is working

Hello @Anja58

It sounds like your Charge 5 is defective since you don't see a green light (heart rate sensor) and you're not seeing your heart rate being tracked on the device. You probably should contact Fitbit support (<-- click link).

That is what mine did after the update and it eventually just died. It was only 11 months old. The battery went from lasting easy 7 days on a charge to not being able to even last 4 hours. Resetting, restarting, etc. didn't help. If it is still under warranty, get it replaced fast! Although, I'm not sure replacing it with another 5 will help, since it looks like the update takes them ALL out! UGH.

( I can't replace mine under warranty since it was already a replacement for a defective one I got and only had a month. The 1st was defective, and they killed the 2nd. My Charge 2 still works though- how crazy is that?! So frustrating!)

I have the exact same red light stays on problem but its right outside the warranty... I have several other fitbits that died out of the blue. Lesson is to stay away from Fitbit products - you will have better luck with cheap generic brands.
