Today while on holiday my 3rd Fitbit charge five has died and now shows a black screen and red light on the back.
I have charged the device, attempted to reset using the button on the charging cable and tried to get my phone to connect via Bluetooth with no success.
I received my first FitBit charge 5 in February 2022, this had to be replaced in August 2022 as it got stuck during an update; the second replacement in October 2023 when the screen would only work intermittently and now, December 2024 the third watch has failed for no obvious reason.
is it really unreasonable to expect these to last? I think it’s time to return to Garmin.

Yep, story sounds extremely familiar! My latest Charge 5 gave up yesterday and after getting in touch with Support and the conclusion was offering me a 35% discount on a new model! Why should I pay for something which may breakdown again and more than likely will do.
Like you, I’ve had a few already replaced due to them failing and I am extremely disappointed with the response received from Customer Support, hope you get a more satisfactory response but I would be surprised if you do.

You Both have the same system's as I have been fighting these last 2.5 years. Now mine won't hold time goes back to Eastern time and every time reset and supposedly lock it in; it dies and need to go through all the steps to set it up again. Hate these supposedly wonderful devices.

My replacement didn’t even last ten months, there’s an obvious issue with the product hence the reason I’m not buying a new one even with a 35% discount.

Angrily reading your post as I deal with my third Fitbit going on the fritz. I think I started with a 2, then a 4. and now my Charge 5 has decided today to not die. I have tried to rest to no avail. So frustrating as I really love the size, graphics, quick charging, and app. I use it everyday for my runs and workouts. All of my devices lasted no longer then 2 years and of course just outside the warranty.

It’s so frustrating and I don’t feel “Customer Support” are dealing with this issue adequately. I have been recovering from two shoulder operations since July so it’s not even as if the Charge 5 has been overworked, I feel it should have been replaced again FOC-yes, that’s also still frustrating but it’s their problem that there’s a reliability issue and I should not be expected to pay for a replacement with a 35% discount.
