This new Charge 5 is unresponsive

I was shipped a lemon. While I am waiting for Fitbit customer service to respond, I'm using my old Fitbit. 

 

Meanwhile, the app is constantly trying to sync with a dead Charger 5. Not surprisingly, it can't connect. 

 

But I can't remove the Charge 5 from my app. I have force stopped and uninstalled the app. Still nothing. 

 

Unfortunately this junk Charge 5 is causing my phone to rapidly discharge,  too,  because the app desperately wants to sync. I'm beginning to think my decision to upgrade to the charge 5 was a bad bad decision. Can anyone help?

What error message do you receive in the Fitbit app when you try to remove the Charge 5 from your account?

Have you restarted your phone (off/on again)?

Hi Juan! Thanks for messaging.

I was getting the error, "sync in progress, please wait."

I tried everything - and finally got the app to delete the device. I had to
"forget" the device on my Bluetooth and then uninstall the app, reinstall
it and then could remove it.
