The heart rate monitor is completely useless. It jumps all over, dives 30-40 beats, stops reading completely, then rinse and repeat. No adjusting helps. I never thought I'd miss my Apple Watch after switching from my ionic which was just amazing.

Hi, @dmor20 , welcome to the community, You do not mention the precise circumstances when you experienced the HR problem. Your Charge 5 symptoms are certainly unusual. Check your HR is switched on, you may have inadvertently turned it off. Swipe down from the clock face> touch "settings"> Swipe up three tiles to "Heart Rate", the slider should be to the right and not greyed out. Swipe right and up to return to the clock face. My Charge 5 is currently saying my heart rate is at 129 bpm. I'm sitting at my desk, nice and quiet. I manually counted my HR using my fingers on my carotid and double checked on my Samsung phone and my BP monitor. My actual HR is a cool 63 bpm. The Charge 5 is the most inaccurate Fitbit I've owned so far. On average, it's 10 BPM higher than my actual HR at rest. My resting rate is usually in the 60s. It's been steadily rising since I got the 5.
