If I enable tracking of a walk from the Fitbit app it doesn't show any Heart rate data even though I was wearing my charge 5. The only way I can see to capture HD heart rate on a walk is to start a run session on the Charge 5 directly. It would be better if the app was a bit smarter.
Also the calories logged when I completed a power walk workout were only half of what were logged for a less strenuous walk autologged by the charge 5. Can it really be so hard to get this stuff right?

Hello @Geeski2000 and welcome to the Community. When you track your walk using the Fitbit app, you are using a feature called MobileRun. MobileRun is a very old way of tracking walks. It stopped showing heart rate a couple years ago. I don't think Fitbit will fix it because all the current and very recent trackers have an Exercise app. You should use the Walk shortcut on your Exercise app. Here is the link to Fitbit's Help article: How do I track my workouts with my Fitbit device? There is a section with instructions on how to change and customize your exercise shortcuts. If walking is your most common workout, you can make it first on your list.
All of Fitbit's calorie burn estimates come from heart rate based algorithms. I think you will get more information when you can compare two activities that have heart rate and calorie burn data.
