Tracking acitvities After long haul travel and change of time zones

Deal all,

I have just returned from a Trip to  North America and am back home in Europe. Time difference is 6 Hours. Changing Hour and day was no issue at all, my charge5 had no problems.

However I have issues with activities that are tracked autmatically:

1. all my activities that tracked automatically during my trip are now set to my local time Zone ( so a Walk at 9pm is shown for 3 am the next day)

2. All the activites that are tracked since my return are being tracked + 6 Hours now too… which is even more strange . So a walk  I did today at 6:30 pm is now set to 12:30 am tomorrow.

I have restarted the Charge5 already, but no changes. Actually this is rot the first time I am travelling but the First time with these odd results. As I have some more trips coming up, I would like to be able to track the activities correctly.

The tracker shows the correct time and date, somewhere in the background there must be something wrong.

Hello @Kairstin

I've seen reports that sometimes Fitbit devices get "stuck" after going through time zones.

The troubleshooting steps I've seen is:

  • Access the app settings in the Fitbit app
  • Turn off automatic location & time zone & set these to something else
  • Do a sync
  • Turn automatic location & time zone back on
  • Do a sync

Thank you for your reply. It didn‘t help so far even though I tried several locations across the globe.

Any other ideas ?

Hello @Kairstin

There's one other thing that I can think of to try.

Clear the storage and cache for the Fitbit app on your phone. You might have to log back into the app after you do this. Hopefully, this will clear out whatever data is messing up your times.

Thank you. I did‘nt try this Trick anymore because somehow the issue was solved without further steps overnight (the third Night back at Home). I will see how it will react in 2 weeks when the next Trip is coming…

Hello @Kairstin

Thank you for letting us know that your time issue cleared up on its own.

I'm not sure why it took 3 nights before your Charge 5 started recording times properly. Usually, we see reports of this during Daylight Savings that resolve in a day or so.

Hopefully, you won't experience another incident of this issue when you go on your next trip.
