Used swim lock, swam for about 20 minutes, now dead Charge 5

I used the swim lock feature for the first time the swam for about 20 minutes. Now I have a dead Charge5 and it sounds like there is nothing I can do about it. Has anyone had luck having a defective item replaced after the 1 yr warranty? Fitbit knows this is a problem but what is being done about it? Is there an email? The phone number puts me in contact with nonhelpful individuals. I'm mad!

Never happened with me. But my Charge 5 often went crazy while swimming with it until it dried off. Did you try charging it?

It was charged when I started, It won't charge or connect to the charger for reset now. It's dead.

My wife's unit is just a year old, but it had been working fine in the water for water aerobics, but today it went  black. Maybe she got to much water on it. We're going to try to dry it out and see if it comes back because it did this once before although we never thought the water would affect it.

Check the charging cord connection on the back of your Charge5.   Make sure it is clear of debris or corrosion.    Rinse the back with vinegar if need be.    I have had the Charge5 for 8 months and swam in the ocean and/or pool several times a week since I got it.   I wear it in the shower everyday and the only trouble I had was once after being in the ocean the charger connection did not work.  I sprayed some vinegar on the connection points, let it soak in for 30 minutes, rinsed it and it has worked perfectly for the past 5 months.

I didn't  have your problem, but I went swiming and it didn't  register even though I set it up so swimming would be recognized.

Some times it's risky to put things like that in water.

The charge 5 is advertised and sold as a swim tracker. I would not consider it risky to use a product for its intended purpose.
