Was the Charge 5 the right choice for me?

I bought the Charge 5 last weekend because of the Black Friday sale ($100 sale price vs $150 standard price). The main reason I bought it was because I have a lot of health anxiety and having covid a second time really amplified that. So I essentially wanted something that I could check that would ease my anxiety a little. I normally do a lot of product research before I purchase anything but I bought this a bit hastily — just compared prices with Apple Watches, checked features and prices on other Fitbit models, and figured I could return it if I didn’t like it. I’ve had it almost a week and I’ve been pretty happy with it (except that blood oxygen is only measured while sleeping), but I’m now looking through some of the other brand options and wondering if I made the right choice. Personally, I don’t care about music connectivity, phone notifications (I have those disabled), or exact precision with exercise measurement. Pre-covid infection I would take daily walks, enjoyed hiking, biked sometimes, and was trying to start running to improve my base running speed for an adult kickball league I’m in. I care most about being able to check health info — current heart rate and heart rate trends, heart rhythm, blood oxygen, breathing, that type of stuff — and having an idea of my steps and distance when walking. Did I make the right call with the Charge 5 or is there something else that would better suit my needs?

@aditya01122 Sorry that you haven't gotten any responses yet. You may have been concerned since no one has responded. Remember, this community forum is where users come when they have issues/problems with their devices. The posts you will usually see here are users asking for help to resolve an issue or expressing their frustration when their device isn't working properly or suggesting an improvement.

That said, I'm satisfied with my Charge 5. I mainly wanted a device that would track my heart rate during my workouts & didn't need all the features of a smart watch. After doing my research, the Charge 5 met my needs. Plus it was on sale. Unfortunately, I experienced fatal issues shortly after updating to the latest firmware almost 6 months after purchase. It was replaced after contacting Fitbit support. So far, the replacement is working fine, even after updating the firmware.

As long as the Charge 5 is meeting your needs and is working properly, then you made the right choice. Keep in mind that no product is 100% perfect. I'm sure you will find issues & problems with other health trackers & smart watches with fitness apps. If your Charge 5 develops an issue that isn't resolved by performing the recommended troubleshooting procedures & your device is still under warranty, contact Fitbit support right away to get your defective tracker replaced.
