Can someone confirm that the Wallet on My Fitbit charge 5 will not work with mainstream UK banks. In the settings, there is a list of fairly obscure banks, and none of the usual ones we know

thanks in advance !

Hi @Richyt.

Unfortunately the number of supported banks here in the UK are extremely limited. I can recommend Starling bank though. I signed up for a starling account when Fitbit pay was first launched and liked it enough to continue using it to this day. I still use my mainstream bank account for salary and bills, and use the Starling account more as a daily spending account/card.

Maybe something like this would work for you?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Richyt.

Thank you for your question about Fitbit Pay.

You can find the list UK banks supported by Fitbit Pay in this site.

If your bank is not listed, there is a workaround you might want to try. For more information, please visit this article and open the menu "What can I do if my bank or card isn't supported by Fitbit Pay?".

Have a nice day.

Thanks for your replies. I won’t pursue it further. I’m happy with Apple
Pay, but when there appears to be a pay facility on your FitBit, you are
understandably going to look into it.

Thanks all

I tried opening an account with Starling, but for some reason they refused me. My credit score is 999 (perfect score) so I have no idea why - and they won't explain.

Fortunately I have an account with Wise (formerly Transferwise). Not a conventional bank account, but it works fine with Fitbit Pay and the account is multi-currency, so you can spend local currency with it when abroad.

It took me a bit of time to get used to the process for paying with the device. Firstly you have to enter your PIN unless you've done it in the last 24 hours and haven't taken the watch off since. On the Charge 5, to make a payment, swipe down from the clock face, tap Payments, enter the PIN if necessary. When your card shows in the display, present the watch to the contactless payment card reader and that's it. I've found it works well but it's not as simple as just waving a card at the reader.

Its usefulness is for when you're out and about without your phone or bank card. To me this means during a walk or run or cycle ride for exercise. But if you've started an exercise session you can't use any other function until you end the exercise session. Including Fitbit Pay. So I've had to end my session, pay for my coffee, and then start a fresh exercise session. Then I end up with a log of two separate exercises, which is less than ideal.

Instructions to use Fitbit Pay can be found in this article. Like it was explained in this postcurrently, there is no option to use Fitbit Pay if your Fitbit device is in exercise mode. You are welcome to vote this feature suggestion and if there is any update, it should be communicated as soon as possible.

Thanks for your support, @N8teGee.
