When will the ECG app be available on Charge 5?

I just received my Charge 5 but unfortunately no ECG app is available in The Netherlands. I cannot find any information about the release date of the ECG app for the Charge 5. It is a pity because Fitbit is advertising with the ECG feature as one of its main features. Why then is it not available with the release of the device itself? That is a bit disappointing I must say. At least give us a possible release date so we can look forward to this release! This would be highly appreciated!

Hello @Hingane ,

If you scroll down the page on this link, it shows the list of countries that have the ECG App.  It looks like Finland isn't on the list (neither is Japan).  I think we'll have to wait a bit longer until it's approved in our countries.  Let's hope it's sooner rather than later though.

Hi everyone, and welcome to our new members.

I've moved some of your posts to this thread so we can keep the forums organized. I'm happy to share with you that the Fitbit ECG app is now available on the Charge 5 in select countries. Please make sure to update your tracker to the latest firmware version 1.149.11. To learn more about how to use and see your ECG reports, I'd recommend reviewing this help article.

I appreciate your feedback and I hope you enjoy the experience with this feature!

Have a good one.

Why is not available in the United Arab Emirates?

Hello @Mahjabeen and welcome to the Help forum.  The ECG app is a medically regulated feature.  In the US, it needed to be approved by our Food And Drug Administration (FDA) before it could be released here.  It is my understanding the the ECG needs to be approved by the UAE equivalent of the FDA for release in your country.

Hi there, @yellowfungus@Mahjabeen Welcome to the Community Forums. @LZeeW Thanks for your amazing help.

@yellowfungus Thanks for joining this thread. United Kingdom appears as a supported country and it's odd you're getting that message. Given this situation, may I know if you've updated both the Fitbit app and your Charge 5. Assuming that's correct, remove your tracker from the Bluetooth settings, reboot your phone, restart your tracker, open the Fitbit app and pull down on the screen to force a manual sync. Try installing the ECG app one more time and let me know how it goes.

@Mahjabeen As our friend mentioned, we need to wait until the usage of the ECG app is approved in your country. While there isn't a time frame for this, you can try sharing this idea in the Feature Suggestions board so our developers can take it into consideration. To learn more about this board, see our FAQs.

Hello, I have tried going through support but unfortunately they are a brick wall to talk to. I live in the United States and according to your link the Charge 5 ECG is available here. However when I use my device it says "set up on phone" with a link that takes me to a page saying "get started from your Fitbit device". An infinite loop, and it won't take a reading. Could you offer any ideas or assistance? Thanks.

Welcome on board, @mattsladen.

Thanks for joining this thread and your efforts while working on this matter. This is odd as the ECG app should be working well after completing the Heart Rhythm Assessment. Because this isn't the case, let me recommend the following steps:

  1. Open the Fitbit app, tap your profile picture > Charge 5.
  2. Tap Gallery and uninstall the ECG app from My Apps.
  3. Then reboot your phone and restart your tracker.
  4. Reinstall the ECG app and sync to reconnect your tracker to the Fitbit app.
  5. Tap Discover in the Fitbit app > Health Assessments & Reports and double check if the assessment is completed.
  6. Try taking an ECG reading one more time and let me know how it goes.

I’m in US and it’s not working. I’m also up to date on updates. A lot of issues in general with this Charge 5. Fitbit is becoming a joke of a device. Maybe should have gotten another brand. They don’t seem to have as many problems.
