When will the ECG app be available on Charge 5?

I just received my Charge 5 but unfortunately no ECG app is available in The Netherlands. I cannot find any information about the release date of the ECG app for the Charge 5. It is a pity because Fitbit is advertising with the ECG feature as one of its main features. Why then is it not available with the release of the device itself? That is a bit disappointing I must say. At least give us a possible release date so we can look forward to this release! This would be highly appreciated!

I was lucky… I bought my Fitbit charge 5 from Amazon and returned it but they told it was not returnable … so they told me to keep the Fitbit and they will refund my money of 179.00 and tax… I was shocked… Amazon your the best… my Fitbit work great except for not having the ECG… for now

Fitbit’s “coming soon” has frequently meant 6 months. The Luxe finally got SP02 tracking 6 months later & it was also advertised to have it. It got the feature a week ago…

On some adverts they have coming soon...on others it's not mentioned as coming soon, but is mentioned as a feature. I saw one such advert either or YouTube or on TV (can't remember which)...it mentioned the ecg but had no "coming soon" mentioned or small printed

In Canada since the Sense was already approved by Health Canada, would the same filing apply for the charge 5?

or will fitbit have to request approval for this device as well? If they must submit new approval it could takes months for the update. If they are able to use the approval of the ecg app already approved then it’s a matter of just updating the firmware.

Hello everyone, thanks for your participation in the Community. For all of you who are new to the Fitbit community, welcome.

Thank you for the details mentioned. I understand how you are feeling, your feedback and comments are greatly appreciated. The ECG app will be available soon for the Charge 5. While we can't provide a specific date, I recommend that you keep an eye on the app to look for future firmware updates and make sure to sync regularly as well. Here you can check the list of countries where this feature will be available soon: https://www.fitbit.com/global/us/technology/ecg.

When purchased in store it is advertised as having it. There is nothing that says “coming soon.”

I also got hoodwinked by the info on Fitbit ECG app | Heart Rhythm Assessment    I bought a Charge 5 and fully expected the ECG to be ready (just like all the photos and instructions on that page).  To be fair, it does say 'coming soon' at the very very end of the page.  However, this is not fair advertising.

Coming Soon with fitbit quite often means 'never'.  So I tried fitbit chat and was also told 'coming soon'.  After a bit of pushing, the operator said the update is due in November (but couldn't say whether it would be beginning or end of the month)  Also, he said it wouldn't need a premium subscription.

So, while I remain hugely disappointed, there may be light at the end of the tunnel.

I've learned the hard way what "coming soon" means for Fitbit... Charge 4 got SpO2 after A WHOLE YEAR.

Tracker released on March 2020, SpO2 update released on March 2021. Besides that, after 6 months... it's still not working properly.

I'm sorry... I wish you better luck with the Charge 5! 😁

I returned my charger 5 back to Amazon and it was not returnable so Amazon gave me a refund… and said I can keep my charge 5.. so mine is free… so I’m still hoping for the ECG release or I’ll wait the the Sense 2 coming out next year

Re the battery draining fast, on my Samsung I had to make the Screen Wake manual. I'm doing that on this, too, as its default setting is auto wake

Hi and thank you for your answer. Do you happen to know when it will be available and if you‘ll need the premium account for the ekg?

I hope it won’t require premium account but if does then they should release it before the trail period ends. I got charge 5 a month ago and the premium subscription started even before i got my charge 5. If they don’t release the app before my subscription ends it means that they are try to make you buy premium subscription (if premium is required)

@sjtpawar8   The ECG doesn't require premium.  My husband wears a Sense and uses it regularly.

It took them 6 months to out SPO2 on the Fitbit Luxe and it said, “coming soon” for 6 months.

It came today. Once the firmware update went through, the ECG function appeared on my device.

Your post prompted me to check...and yup, firmware update through which ECG and a new clock face (though still not a wide enough range...they all seem to be a little too artsy)
