Where did the stair tracker go? Charge 5

I have owned a Charge 3 and then a Charge 4 and now a Charge 5. I loved how the previous models would track how many flights of stairs I go up and down in a day. Where did it go for the charge five?

For some reason Fitbit decided to not include the necessary sensor in the Charge 5 to allow it to track floors. As it's a hardware limitation there's nothing we can do to get floors tracked.

I really enjoyed having my stairs tracked along with my elevation. I was disappointed to see this feature gone, especially because it was critical for me.

This is a useful site. Thanks for the response on the stair tracker.

Hi, welcome to the Fitbit Community forums, @MavrickDad @miaj.

As it was mentioned earlier in the thread, unfortunately this device does not include the option to track floors. The Charge 5 includes many of the features available with Fitbit smartwatches at a more accessible price, but the option to track floors wasn't included with this specific device. You can find all the features available with this tracker on the Charge 5 Product Manual and on the Fitbit Store

Thank you for sharing all your comments and feedback about this; this is always useful to continue to improving the quality of products and services.

Have a good day.

OK, so help me understand. If my workout routine includes running stairs, it will show only steps? How will it account for intensity? Will this show up as just a run?

By the way, I see no mention of the Charge 5 not tracking stairs on either the Product Manual or the Fitbit Store.

Probably for the best, my Charge 4 showed I climbed 313 flights of stairs one day and I never even left my house....a one story house.

Hi, thank you for sharing your inquiry about the Charge 5, @TJoW2019

As you mentioned earlier, the device would not track any floors, since it doesn't include an altimeter, but it will still track your steps, the calories and heart rate to keep track of the intensity of your workout. If your workout routine includes running, then you should see the running activity recorded. You can find all the activities that can be tracked automatically here. In addition, you can also use the exercise shortcuts to track certain activities and start to manually record them from the exercise app on the device.

Regarding the Product Manual and the Fitbit Store, please keep in mind the descriptions online only mention the features that are included with the device, but they don't provide information about the features that aren't included.

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments about this, the team continues to work to improve the Fitbit experience and your feedback is a big part of that process.

Why under the features link next to specifications in the Charge 5 link does it show stairs climbed. This is what I looked when I bought the tracker, and it was incorrect. Is this not false advertising, you cannot see it does not track stairs without doing a compare with another model.

I also found the specifications listed to be misleading. I purchased my Charge 5 because the specs said it tracked swimming laps. After using it, I discovered that swimming laps cannot be displayed on the device. I can only see my lap count on my phone after completing my swim and syncing.
