Hi there,
I have my fitbit charge 5 since today and noted that there was an update of the design of the app a couple of days before. Now, I wanted to check the ECG and all the explanations on the internet tell me, I have to go to the discover page and start the health rythm assessment. But since the design is new, there is no "discover" page where i can go now. I can not find it anywhere. How can I start the ecg wit the new designupdate? Even my fitbit told me, go to the discover tab when i wanted to start the ecg. But there is no discover tab anymore.
I have an iphone with current software. I also deleted the fitbit app and installed it new. Nothing changed. Also a restart of the fitbit itself didn't do anything.
Hope somebody can help me.
Thanks a lot 🙂

Hi, @DodoPalmer , you need first to check your heart rhythm using the ECG app on the Charge 5 itself. On the Charge 5, from the clock face screen swipe until you come to the ECG app (the icon is a heart with a line, representing a graph). Follow the on screen (on Charge 5 screen) instructions to run the scan.
When you are finished, and the Fitbit has synced to your app, you will find information on your app when you click on the heart tile (you should find it on the opening, Today, screen of the app under the Health category). Click on the heart tile and below the resting heart rate graph you will see a red heart icon and the words “Irregular rhythm notifications - Tap to see your history”. Tap on that and it will tell you when it was last analysed and if you have received any notifications. You should also see a tick/check to confirm that notifications are on & checking.
I hope this helps. Welcome to the Community Forums!

Hi yes your notification re AF are still available but you cannot download other arrythmias as a PDF to send to your healthcare provider like you could before. That was the only reason I purchased this particular device so hope I can find a way to do this!

I am sorry, but I don’t think you read this post closely enough. I am having the same problem. Clicking on the ECG icon on the watch loads a screen that indicates you must
”Set Up On Phone” and directs you to the Discover tab of the FitBit App.
so … the app on the watch doesn’t work.
and there is no Discover tab on the mobile app.
Now. With that information. Will someone please provide instructions? This ECG app is the primary reason some people buy this watch.
ours is a Sense 2

I have a premium membership so maybe that makes a difference. With the premium membership you can download all readings in pdf format even when the result is "normal sinus rhythm." It's found in "Health Assessments" under the "You" tab on the bottom of the home page.

Hi, @DodoPalmer and @DEVO64 as you have noted, there is no longer a Discovery Tab on your app. If you are getting the message on your Fitbit in the ECG app that you need to set up, please open your app and at the bottom right of the Today screen click on the “You” button .
In the Health Assessments area if you do not immediately see the ECG, touch the first “health assessments” (may be high heart rate notifications or irregular rhythm associations etc.) and then swipe left to scroll through the available assessments. When you come to ECG click on that and set permissions if necessary. You can also get more information by clicking on the ECG tile in the app about how it works and how to use it.
Hopefully clicking on the ECG tile in your app will re-set your Fitbit (the app will need to be connected to your phone - make sure you have live info on the app or sync your Fitbit).
If you are still not able to do an ECG test on your Fitbit and are still getting the message on your Fitbit itself to go to the now defunct Discovery tab, you may need to set up your Fitbit again. You will not lose any data doing this as long as you sync your device first. To re-set up your Fitbit (once you have synced!) go to the opening, Today, tab of your app and click on the small icon top left (the smart phone and watch icon). On the next screen choose “Add more devices”. From the list choose your Fitbit. You will get a message saying “Replace with new device? This will disconnect (your Fitbit) from your account.” Click on “Replace with (your Fitbit) at the bottom of the screen and continue from there. (I had to do the replace trick in order to get my Charge 5 to let me do an ECG test using the new app. I also had to swipe between the clock screen and the ECG app and try to open it several times before the go to the Discovery tab message disappeared and it allowed me to do an ECG scan - but I did get it working in the end! I persisted! )
@CurlyK if you click on “View History” on the ECG tab in your app (under “You”) you should see a list of your previous assessments. Clicking on one of them will bring up a screen so that you can export a PDF for your “provider” . You do not need Premium for this.
Hopefully this will now work for you all as before.

@Breton66 , I did have to re-set up mine and log out and log in again a couple of times and then wait, and then suddenly it worked. I recommend trying again, esp after logging out. I know it shouldn’t work so temperamentally and I am not defending it, but I am guessing that if you have the patience to try again it will probably work.

Same here. Received the device yesterday as a gift. Tried all the steps multiple times without success, ECG is unavailable and the Fitbit keeps telling me to go to the discover tab.

I had exactly this (message on Charge 5 telling me to go to Discovery tab). By re-setting up the Charge 5 (as described above), logging out of the app and logging back in and going to the “You” tab on the new app, swiping left and finding ECG I did manage to get it to work on the Charge 5 - the message to go to the Discovery tab disappeared and the ECG worked and recorded. I did mess about with it a fair bit, experimenting with trying different things before I got it to work, so I can’t say exactly what order you need to do these things.

Contacted support multiple times, and am yet to get any response, despite the chat agent saying my request will be acted on quickly. So far, so dismal.

@Breton66 after re-setting up your device and logging out and back in to the app have you gone to the You tab on your new app and swiped to find the ECG tile then clicked on it? When I did all that it took a moment and then when I opened the ECG app on my Charge 5 (other devices should work pretty much the same) and then the message on the C5 disappeared and it allowed me to do the ECG test.

Unfortunately this is not working for me. In the you tab under Heart Rhythm Assessment it tells me to get started from my device. On my device it keeps telling me to go to the app and find the discover tab. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hi BenWe When I first tried finding the ECG tab it wasn't available so I took an ECG on my Fitbit. I then tapped on the you tab and scrolled down to the heart rhythm assessment tab, then scrolled left and the ECG tab was their ! Not sure after update it was catching up 🤷 .Have you installed the Fitbit ECG app from Playstore?

Update: Mg ECG is now working, miraculously. Message to go to Discover tab has disappeared. Completely random, just tried it for the 100th time and it worked. Must have cleared somehow. I did use the Exercise app prior to trying it, so that may have had some bearing. Who knows? Their Support definitely doesn't 😂.

Really glad it's working for you Breton66 👍. It certainly seems as if the device and app have a mind of their own after an update! Totally agree re support being a bit clueless 😂
