Why is ecg for 22 year olds and above

Hi I was wondering if my 12 yr old child can use ecg, like will it still be accurate so that if I can’t I will buy the luxe for him

@ShadowNinja   You can't set up a Luxe for a 12 year old.  A 12 year old can't have a standard account and must have a child's account as part of a Family Account.  The Ace series is for users under age 13 (and 16 in some EU countries).

 

To clarify one detail, this is not an ECG, this is a heart rhythm analysis.  This is a medically regulated feature, requiring FDA approval.  It is for 22 and older because it wasn't tested on anyone younger.  Features like this aren't for medical diagnosis.  If you believe your child needs this type of monitoring, then you should discuss it with their pediatrician.

 

Here is a little more age explanation.  When the FDA was created, the age brackets for devices were birth - 21 for pediatric devices and 22 and older for adult devices.  Fitbit would have had to run a completely parallel pediatric study when it ran the Fitbit Heart Study that led to this feature.  I participated in the Fitbit Heart Study.
