My Charge 5 will not track my sleep. It shows like one hour and that’s it after sleeping all night.

Hi, it's good to see you visiting the Fitbit Community for the first time, @Kimduke.

Thank you for sharing this information about the inconvenience you've been experiencing with the new Charge 5.

When your body is completely at rest and you haven’t moved for about an hour, your device should record that you’re asleepBefore considering other options, please keep in mind that there are some factors that may prevent your tracker from recording your sleep. Please make sure of the following:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device as described in this help article.
  • If you slept for less than 1 hour for sleep patterns or less than 3 hours for sleep stages.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

If you haven't done so already, please follow the steps listed here below:

  1. Complete a three pulse restart procedure using the charging cable.
  2. Try adjusting the sleep sensitivity on the Fitbit app and check if you continue to have the same problem.

In addition, please wear your device on your non-dominant hand and monitor it for the next few days. In the meantime, for the nights that don't have sleep data, you can manually log your sleep by going to the Fitbit app, tapping on the "+" icon next to the sleep tile > Add Sleep Log and entering your details.

I bought my Charge 5 some 2 years ago and it stopped tracking sleep properly after a short time.  Recently, the GPS stopped working properly during my bike rides.  It loses signal, regardless whether it is a cloudy or a blue-sky day.

Please don’t reply with your standard template answer as above; many people already indicated that none of this works.

Welcome to the community forums, @Bike_Man.

I'm sorry to see that you're having these problems with your Charge 5.

Could you please provide a few more details about the sleep information tracker by your Charge 5 not being accurate?

In the meantime, and regarding the GPS, let me know if you've tried any troubleshooting steps so far, or please confirm if you've followed all the steps and recommendations shared in this post of the community

Hi David,

I have the same same problems with sleep tracking like everyone else; it misses the first 3-4hr of sleep.  I tried all the tricks described like rebooting, pressing the button on the charge cable etc etc.  But it appears to be temperamental, sometimes it works properly, sometimes not.  It worked ok for the first year or so.

Regarding the GPS problem.  It simply misses part of the bike ride.  It worked ok until recently i.e. the last few month.  I always drive the same route ~10km, ~3 times a week.  On the map, it started showing straight lines tracking i.e me going through the houses etc and it cuts the tracking from 10km to 7, 5 and recently even 2.5km.  Nothing has changed in my phone setting Location is ON, and the GPS is set to Dynamic.

Cheers

Andrew
