charge 5 gps is too innacurate

i run a lot and i need the data to be accurate, so i got the charge 5 because of the gps.

i run the same route a lot so in theory every time i run, the distance should be the same, but it varies by up to .3 miles

it also records the map as me running off the road even though i run on it. it even records my start and stop locations as being decently far away from where i start/stop (its a loop so they should be the same)

where the 1 is, its about where i start and stop

a bit of difference in gps would be fine but i need these numbers to be accurate for cross country

my watch is positioned right, if i tighten it more its too tight, if i loosen it its too loose

finally, if someone could recommend a watch that is better, that would be nice, thank you

Good to see you around the community @thomas.h

Thanks for sharing the inquiry regarding GPS on your Charge 5.

Please, make sure to follow the steps suggested in this article

All devices with GPS sensors require a direct path to GPS satellites to calculate location. A weak GPS signal might affect the accuracy of your route and other activity data. Your device uses your step count to calculate distance until it finds a signal, so the total distance calculated for a workout may be slightly less accurate when GPS isn't available for the entire time. In particular, please make sure of the following:

  • That you are  in open sky and moderate trees
  • Adjust how you wear the tracker when you want to use GPS
  • Make sure the Location in your phone settings is set to Always or All the time for the Fitbit app (if you're using connected GPS)

If you continue to experience the same behavior and your GPS is getting disconnected, make sure to try following the steps listed in this article to complete a restart, as this has been useful for other users experiencing something similar.
