I've had two charge 4's in a row right outside of warranty break those cheap flimsy little ears that connect the band to the case. Can anyone validate if the new charge 5 has the same cheap flimsy plastic pieces or if they went to metal or something better?

The band connectors are quite a bit different. It is such a tight fit I have had issues getting them to release sometimes. A little compression in the right direction helps. I've never had a band failure, and I go all the way back to the Charge 2.

I didn't have a charge 4 but the connectors on the 5 are indeed plastic. I just received a replacement (different issue with that one) but my replacement will not hold on one side 😑

The ongoing issue so many people are having with the Charge isn't the band breaking it's the tiny flimsy little plastic ears that are part of the charge case that the bands actually snap onto. Once those little parts on the case break the whole thing is trash...

Thanks that's what I was worried about. I can't bring myself to spend yet more money on any Fitbit moving forward until they acknowledge the ongoing design issue and fix it.
