fitbit says I'm sleeping but I'm awake

I have a unfortunate tendency of waking up during the night, then laying there for hours in an attempt to fall back to sleep. fitbit tends to record much of this time as "light sleep". Granted my heart rate often remains low but I don't feel as if I'm benefitting from sleep. I eventually often rise exhausted in the morning and sometimes to an undeserved favorable "sleep score". This messes with my "readiness score" too.

What are your thoughts regarding use of fitbit in such situations?

@BillyDB This happens to me a lot too because I'm a light sleeper.  If I get up to use the bathroom or if the dog needs to go potty, it's not uncommon for me to get back in bed and lay there for two or three hours awake.  However, because I'm laying down and my HR is low, my Fitbit will think I'm sleeping.  Occasionally, if end up not going back to sleep, I will edit the sleep log.  But to be honest, when that situation happens, I just ignore my sleep score and time asleep for that day. I know it's wrong and I know I don't feel great the next day.

One thing that has helped me to fall asleep faster if I wake up is to put on some sort of sleep meditation. I use the ones in the Peloton app, but apps like Calm and even Fitbit Premium have some relaxing sleep sounds or sleep meditations. Anything to take my mind off of things and help me go back to sleep.

Mine often says I'm asleep not even at night. I have a baby who likes to nap in my arms so multiple times now my watch has tracked "sleep" which was actually me watching Netflix while sitting very still because there's a sleeping baby on me.

My watch also fails to track half of my actual sleep, I wake up and go back to sleep a lot in the night because of the baby, but half the time when I go back to sleep it stops tracking sleep and says I've been up since 1am or something like that.

The sleep tracking on my old charge 2 was much better than this, im kindof disappointed.
