Hello @cabinquilt and welcome to the Community. You are going to add your new Charge 5 to your account. What happens when you follow the directions depends on your current Fitbit.
Attach your Charge 5 to its charging cable and charge it. Tap on your profile avatar on your mobile app, then tap on the blue + Set Up a Device. Choose Charge 5. If your current Fitbit has a Gallery, the Fitbit app will remove your current device and replace it with the Charge 5. If you are using an older device like a Charge 2, then the app will simply add the new Charge 5.
As long as you add the new Fitbit to your current account, you won’t lose any data.
