new Charge 5 and now old Charge 4 don't track distance accurately

I've wasted 30 min. x 3 talking to fitbit support -- no solution. Going in circles.

My new Charge 5 doesn't remotely track my kilometres accurately - either on my phone's app or on the fitbit itself.

My old Charge 4 worked perfectly for years - so I tried to go back to my old Charge 4 -- "suddenly" it doesn't track distance accurately either?!

WHAT GIVES?

no solution via phone. tried way too many times to re-boot, re-set etc. Clearly I'm not alone, Charge 5 seems to be a nightmare w/ inaccuracy for many people.

This has to be the app update issue - how could a previously perfectly accurate Charge 4 no longer work? -- where is the solution from fitbit??

@Fitpoodle Could you provide details about how you are trying to track distance?

  • Are you manually starting walks/runs and using GPS (phone or tracker), or not?
  • Are you allowing your tracker too automatically recognize the activity?
  • Are you tracking via the app or tracker?
  • Are you seeing the same/different distance on your tracker as the app?
  • Are other values being accurately represented, such as steps?

I could be something as simple as your stride length or height being incorrect in the app.

Hi there - Thanks for your input.

However, as I've written several times in this forum - I never, ever had a problem with my Charge 4 - and now ever since trying to use my Charge 5 - and then returning to the Charge 4 - the Charge 4 isn't tracking distance properly at all. A 10 km daily goal is somehow being "read" as if i have a 16 to 24 km goal??!

Neither the Charge 4 nor the 5 are tracking properly --- and in all the years I wore my Charge 4, I never once had to deal w/ height (?), with measuring my stride. I simply walked (regardless of holding phone or not) and it tracked properly. I never had to deal w/ GPS dynamic vs phone, etc. I never had any problems with my goal distance vis-à-vis the app or the watch. **Both the tracker and the app are off. It's incredibly frustrating.

Something is amiss and after two solid weeks trying to get an answer - nothing has changed. I believe it's the app - but no one from fitbit has offered a actual solution.
