tracking mileage on Charge 5

I recently upgraded to the Charge 5 for the GPS so I can track mileage on my runs/walks, but I can't seem to figure out how to get mileage on these activities. It shows mileage for a few runs, but all of my walks and some shorter runs just show the steps, HR, etc. and not the mileage/GPS data.

How can I get my Charge 5 to track mileage on all runs + walks?

@ironXtreme Here is the Charge 5 Manual for you, but I snipped the section on tracking exercises with your device:

@ironXtreme Hello! The best way to get your mileage is to make sure when you go for a walk, run, or a hike that you choose one of those activities from your Charge 5 Exercise option. By tracking the activity from your Charge 5, you'll get your mileage and a map of where you walked.

Thank you Heather! This is so helpful in many ways--I didn't even know about swiping left/right on the watch.

[hopefully just] one more question: I don't see "walk" as an exercise option. Is there a way I can add that into the lineup?

Open the FitBit app on your phone. Click the “Charge 5” icon. Then select “Exercise Shortcuts” then edit. You can add walking as an exercise. You can have 6 shortcuts at one time so you may need to delete one before adding walking.

@ironXtreme Just what @RunWalkCrawl said. There is also a video here showing how to add different exercises as well.  🙂

Thank you both @Heather-S and @RunWalkCrawl  for all the help!
TBH I had almost given up on Fitbit bc I had such a bad experience with the help chat when dealing with my old device, but you have really helped me figure things out and I'm excited to see what I can do with my new device!
