I was hiking on a mountain for 6 hours, with an elevation gain of 1700 feet, and it didn't show much at all in the way of exercise for that time frame. Kind of disappointing when you are huffing and puffing for hours and don't get much in the way of credit for it. Bought it on Monday night as my old Fitbit went black, and I was leaving the next day on our camping trip. Had to get what I could on a moments notice. I previously have used and loved the Charge 3, but didn't have time to hunt one down. I do not like that this does not give you credit for floors. Is there something that I need to change, add, etc. so I get credit for the exercise I do?

Floors are rarely counted while hiking, floors where counted by walking up steps. While hiking, false floors may be counted from the air pressure changes caused by the air flow around the tracker.
While hiking, your changes in altitude are being recorded with GPS, and on the now defunct web dashboard we where able to see a graph of this.
If Fitbit is linked to a Strava account, your change in elevation will be reported in Strava
As for the Charge 6, and many of the newer Fitbit models, the barometer has not been added. Therefore the Charge 6 is unable to count floors based on air pressure

Hello @JAWS2
Did you manually start tracking your hike using the Exercise app on the Charge 6?
I found it was best for me to manually start & stop an Exercise rather than let my Fitbit auto detect my activity.
