Adding friends

My Fitbit won’t allow me to add contacts and friends? Please help

In order to do that, we need to know what platform you're on.  This issue isn't device-specific so much as app-specific and the process for adding friends depends on two things:

1.) which OS you're on

2.) if you and your friends have migrated your accounts to Google

Knowing any error messages that you receive would also be helpful. And if you have migrated to a Google Login

There is no error message, when trying to search for friends from contacts or user name nothing comes up in the search even when I search on my partners exact user name. He is set up through Google I am not and we both have iPhone 14’s.

The fact that your partner and you haven't both migrated your accounts yet, could be the issue.  I have friends that haven't migrated theirs (I'm on Android but several of my friends are on both platforms).  I have and I can't see those that haven't migrated their accounts yet on my list.  Those that have migrated their accounts already, I can see theirs.

I'd try that and see if it works.

It won't matter if they're on the same platform or not, if they haven't migrated their accounts yet (or if you haven't migrated yours), then you won't see them.
