Auto-detection with GPS drains Charge 6 battery

ANSWERED

My Charge 6 when it automatically recognizes that I'm taking a walk turns on the GPS and tracks my walk. This is having a considerable negative effect on my battery life. While I could previously go 6 days without charging my Charge 6 I now need to charge it about every 3 days or so. The confusing thing is that the settings for automatically recognizing exercise states that it won't use the GPS. Anyone else notice this unannounced/unwelcome change?

@danib62  Your Charge 6 has a new, additional feature called Walk Detect and it is part of the Exercise app.  It is different from the auto-recognized activities that don't use GPS.  You can toggle this off in the Walk settings on the Charge 6 itself.  The Charge series has had Run Detect since the Charge 4.  The Charge 6 also has Run and Bike Detect.

Thanks! I think I found the right setting and turned off GPS. Hopefully this works!

@danib62  I wear a Sense 2  that has the same feature.  I want to clarify one thing.  GPS is different from Walk Detect.  I just want to make sure you toggled the right switch.  I don't own a Charge 6, so I can't tell you the order of the settings on the screen.  Make sure you toggle Walk Detect.

So the weird thing is I’ve had my Charge 6 for a little while and it seems like GPS never clicked on for walk detect until the week of January 21st so it’s just really puzzling to me that all of a sudden the behavior changed.

I've had, and valued, the Walk Detect feature ever since I got my Charge 6 (and Charge 5 before it). But it did not automatically turn on GPS. Can I still have Walk Detect, but without it activating GPS, or do I have to switch off Walk Detect in order to stop it from switching GPS on?

When I had finished my Walk(and pressed pause, finish, done on the watch) the GPS was still on and I had to turn it off manually. If it turns on automatically for a walk, shouldn't it also turn off automatically when the Walk is done?
