I'm thinking of buying the Charge 6 for my dad's birthday. He's a big fitness freak and swears by fitbit. He's been looking to upgrade for a while now so it seems like the perfect gift. My main concern is whether there's a guarantee his old data can be transferred to the Charge 6. Tried googling and it gave a general answer so I'm just asking to confirm.

Hello @a1ngar and welcome to the Community. Your dad's data is synced to his Fitbit account. A new device gets added to his account. I've had at least 10 different Fitbit models on my account since I joined. I have over 10 years of continuous data. (Just to clarify why so many devices -- a perk of being part of Fitbit's Community Council is that we were given models along the way, so that we could help others. Google isn't as generous.)
There is one thing that's required for a Charge 6, if he hasn't done this already. Your dad needs a Google account to set up a Charge 6. He needs to migrate his account from a Fitbit account to a Google account, if he hasn't already done it. These two articles might help: The Keyword Fitbit's Help article I can't stress this enough -- if he hasn't already done it, he needs to migrate his account to Google. Do not set up a new account -- he will lose data if he does that.

Ah, so, just to me clear to myself. I have a charge 4. I will keep my "badges" if I switch to a 6? Silly I know but "important" as I love tracking accumulating data. I have it synced to Hotmail email but can change it to my Gmail account. Thanks
