Can't login on phone

ANSWERED

I've just got a Charge 6. Needed to move to Google. Everything worked on the app on my Samsung tablet. However on my mobile, on which the old Charge 4 worked, I can't login as it says "Password or email address incorrect". I know that my Google address and password are correct. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app but still not working!

Hi @OldSurfer

According to the Fitbit Compatible Devices page (<-- click link), the Fitbit app now requires Android version 9 or higher. Since your phone is Android version 8.1.0, that would be the reason why you're having problems. When you setup your Charge 4, the Fitbit app at that time was compatible with your phone.

I suspect that your Samsung tablet and your wife's phone are on Android version 9 or higher, which is why you didn't have any issues.

At this point, if you're not ready to upgrade your phone, you will have to use the Fitbit app your Samsung tablet with your Charge 6.

I'm not sure why your phone is only offering an old version of the Fitbit app when you re-installed it. I would have thought that only the most current version would be available in the Google Play store.

Hello @OldSurfer

Hopefully, we can help you get your Charge 6 working on your mobile.

Which phone do you have and what's the version of your phone's OS?

Have you tried clearing the cache for the Fitbit app on your phone?

You might also want to check out the Moderator's reply in this thread (<-- click link) and try connecting your Charge 6 to your mobile after moving your tablet out of range (at least 30 feet).

Hi RiekoC,

I'm afraid my phone is an OPPO AX7 with Android 8.1.0. However, before getting the Charge 6 (I had a Charge 4) which seem to work fine with it.
Just a point of interest, I cannot login with either my Google account email and password or my old email and password; both say "Invalid email or password".

Hope that helps.

ReikoC,

Some more info that might be pertinent. Downloaded the Fitbit app to my wife's Huawei P smart 2019. Managed to log in using my Google account.
Reinstall Fitbit app on my OPPO and the front screen was different; no "Continue with Google" button only "Join Fitbit" or "Login" options. So why is my phone only offering an old version of the app?

Hi @RiekoC ,

Thank you for that. I thought it might be the case. It's not a great phone and uses a "cutdown" version of Android. Having replaced the Charge 4 because it fell apart and couldn't be repaired, I can't really justify getting a new phone just to run the Fitbit app. You're right I'll have to use the app on my tablet.

Hi @OldSurfer

I understand about your phone & not being able to justify upgrading. At least you've got the Fitbit app on your Samsung tablet to use for your health tracking.

Please let us know if there's any other assistance that we can provide for you.
