Hi, I've just updated my gmail address on my Fitbit account thinking that was the sensible thing to do before deselecting my old Charge 4 and wanting to set up my new Charge 6. It says I 'should' move to a google account and when I select my new gmail account it tells me I need to wait 7 days before changing again. But it won't let me set up the Charge 6 which seems silly as I don't want to change my email again, I simply want to connect my new device to my new gmail account and my Fitbit app!
Anyone has had the same experience?

Hello @YvonaD did you choose the Log in with your Google account.
Or did you simply change to logging in with a new Google Address.
To setup a Charge 6 you need to change your fitbit to log in through Google
Since fitbit is making you wait 7 days, it looks as if you simply changed to a new email login
In the fitbit app, tap the top left corner, scroll to the bottom of the page. I think you will find the option to convert to a Google login

Yes, and this is frustrating. I just got my Fitbit and cannot use it until the seven days are up. It seems to me that there is a better way to secure the account than waiting seven days. Which nurd came up with this annoying idea? Please change it and verify security a different way. That particular annoyance just made me want to get an Apple Watch for my next fitness device. Also, the reply from Fitbit was not helpful. It told us what we already knew.

No, this is if you change your email address. Some of us have to do that, and then, we cannot move the account for seven days. This is ridiculous and needs to be changed. There are many ways to secure an account. This way is inconvenient for Fitbit and Google customers, but maybe they have enough of those that they don't need to get new ones.

A user can not add a charge 6 to their account if they are logged in with an email address, even if it is a google email.
The user has to first convert their email account to a google account login. Most people do not move to a different google account.
Updating the email is not switching over to a log in with google

Yes, I was using a yahoo email and it gave me directions to switch to a Google email first before I could use a google login, I did that, then couldn't set up the charge 6. It keeps saying "should" set up a login through google, implying that it is not required but then it won't let me because I just changed my email.

I didn't use a new google account, it is an established account, just new to the fitbit app.

You where not told to move to a Gmail login. You where asked to convert to a Google login.
As per my link above
When logging into this community or the Fitbit app you want to use this option your google email will not work.

I have tried everything to link my versa 4. says it cannot link as it is school or work account but I have checked settings and it is not listed as either nore do I use it for either. I have not been able to see any text or notifications in a couple of months due to this problem. I bought this Fitbit a year ago but am looking into another replacement that is not Fitbit at this time since it can not do the basic things I need it to do anymore. I have sent messages in tech support and no answer. could someone please help before I throw this thing away.
