Charge 5 band not compatible with the 6?

My charge 5's latch broke just out of warranty.  I coughed up for the new charge 6 but annoyingly my metal mesh band doesn't seem to want to stay firmly attached.  I've thoroughly cleaned the band and both sides of the mesh band are able to firmly connect to the remaining latch on the 5. The marketing for this device says that the charge 5 band should work with the 6 but this either isn't the case or my 6 is defective.   The bands that came with the 6 are able to firmly connect so I suspect there was a backwards incompatible change.

Hi @Siliconcow  the bands should work, but where did you get the metal mesh band? If it's not an authentic Fitbit band, that could be the problem.

My cheap off brand bands ( several different brands ) fit my charge 5 just fine. As detailed by previous writer they won’t stay latched on my new charge 6. That tells me the latch on the 6 is the problem.

I appreciate your messages and feedback regarding the Charge 5 and Charge 6 band compatibility. 
As @Odyssey13 explained (thank you for all the support always given), the bands should work.

I agree the bands for Charge 5 & 6 are not compatible. I'd just bought an expensive leather strap for my Charge 5, which then died! (As had my previous 2 Fitbit, both after about 3 years?!) The leather strap just won't stay firmly on the watch so am stuck with using the unpleasant plasticky one that came with it. Not impressed.

Argh - just got my Charge 6.  My Charge 5 lasted 4 years!!!  However, all the bands I have accumulated no longer latch onto one side.  VERY frustrated.  I had such a nice collection too!!

@Djoy123 Google's bands for the Charge 5 are guaranteed to be compatible with the Charge 6. Third-party may or may not be. There's a detailed thread about this situation here. Maybe you can get some ideas about what has worked for other people.
