Charge 6 GPS distance not recorded

My wife and I have matching Charge 6 devices, and we walk together while she pushes our son’s wheelchair and I walk the dogs.
 We have found two issues.

When pushing the wheelchair,  no steps are recorded… sort of makes sense as the arm is not moving up/down.

However this exposed another issue.  The GPS took around 10mins to lock after manually starting the walk on her device, during which no steps were recorded (pushing wheelchair). After the GPS got a lock, the watch continued to track the route taken,  but did not use the GPS to calculate the distance.  When we swapped over pushing did the watch track the steps, but massively under counted the overall distance.  My watch recorded 3.5k and hers recorded 1.5k

I am assuming that the watch only tried to use internal GPS and not the phone (set for Dynamic), but as it started without GPS, it went in to Step//stride calculation and never reverted to GPS distance.

Next test will be for Phone Only GPS setting while pushing the wheelchair.

Shame that the internal GPS is so poor as it was for that feature that I chose the Charge 6…

(I’m old enough to not be surprised anymore that stuff doesn’t work like it should…..)
