Hello. I am moving from Charge 4 to 6. I try to add the 6 device in the app. I choose Charge 6> Setup. Then I get a message that I should first move my account to Google. The options are "Proceed" and "Maybe Later." I choose "Maybe Later." Then the app takes me back to "What device are you setting up?" I choose Charge 6. Same thing happens. I can't get past this, and therefore I can't set up 6. Any suggestions?
I don't want to move my account to Google. The app says I should. But it appears that it is required.
Any suggestions are helpful. Thanks!

Hello - I encountered the same issue. Even though the information states that one can continue with existing Fitbit account, it is inaccurate. It is frustrating that I was forced to use a Google account.

Hi @GoodeCarlski - unfortunately you can't setup a Charge 6 with a Fitbit account. You also won't be able to use the Fitbit app without a Google account from 2025.
Note you can't go back to a Fitbit account once you change and some things may not work the same when you change, eg friends.

I just bought mine today and it was beyond frustrating to setup. After reading the forum I found you have to basically rest your charge 6 before even trying to set it up. I did all the recommended steps and it wasn’t until I rebooted it that it finally did the full setup. You hit the side button 3 times and at some point you should get a data clear confirmation. Then have your phone forget the device and start over. Still thinking about returning mine for the versa 4 due to all the complaints.

I just moved from a Charge 4 to a Charge 6 yesterday. I've had a Fitbit for over 5 years so I'm familiar with the features, etc. I received an email a while ago from Fitbit stating that we'd need to change over to Google eventually, so I did. The one small page instructions that came w/the Charge 6 didn't explain how to upgrade from a previous Fitbit, nor did the online instruction manual, no help there. I googled and searched and asked here just like you. I knew from prior experience to charge my new fitbit prior to doing anything. I finally got it done. I had to remove my Charge 4 from my account first. After doing that, my phone app asked if I wanted to install a new device. I said yes and then it was easy peasy. The app took me through all the prompts and everything went smoothly. Good luck and feel free to reach out if you have more questions. I hope you have better luck today. Again, I had already moved my account to Google.

agreed. the Set-up appears to give the option not to set up with Google. "Maybe later" is an option. If a Google account is required, then Fitbit should change the set-up procedure.
Anyway, I am moving to Garmin. I have bought 5 Fitbits in 6 years. Always one issue after another.
Thanks for the replies.

I am having the same issue. Replacing a Charge 4 with a Charge 6 and I do not want to transfer my account to Google because I will no longer be connected with some friends and relatives with Fitbit. I am going to send the Charge 6 back and get something else.
