Charge 6 - Walk detection

ANSWERED

Hi all

Think this has been discussed before but why when detection is turned off my charge 6 still vibrates and shows WALK DETECTED. I have tried all the suggested fixes that I have seen but none work.

A real fix will be great fully received.

Cheers Alan

Hi to all that have tried to help.

I think I have found the problem myself. Using the fitbit app I went to change the watch face and noticed an app tab. Clicked on that then found that the exercise app was not installed. Now installed am able to controll it OK.

Regards to all

@Groggle   All current Fitbit models have a feature that will turn on the Exercise app for six shortcuts: walk, run, bike, elliptical, rowing, and spinning.  This is an Auto-start feature and is different from the SmartTrack activities you control in the Fitbit app.  To turn off walk:

  • Swipe left/right on your Charge 6 screen and open the Exercise app
  • Select Walk
  • Swipe up on the tiny "^" on the bottom of the screen
  • Look for Auto-start and toggle it off

Like I wrote, this feature is on six shortcuts.  You must do this on all shortcuts you don't want to use.

Hi

Swiping left to right does not show the Exercise app. Swiping up does show but cannot do anything with it.

I have seen what should be showing there but does not on my charge 6 so not sure what is happening on my charge 6.

The firmware version on mine is 214.24

@Groggle   Swipe to the left twice on your clock screen.  The first swipe takes you to Notifications.  The second swipe takes you to the Exercise app.

Not on my charge 6. Spent over an hour last night on chat with Google support and they could not sort it so have passed my problem to another department in the hope they can sort it. Just waiting for them to get back to me.

From the clock screen scroll down nine times until you see the Settings icon.  Tap on it and swipe up 6 times until you get to the GPS.  I have mine set to GPS Built In.

What does that have to do with walk detection?

I appologize, I misunderstood your question. Check this setting from the app.click on your icon in the upper right of the screen. From there you should see Fitbit settings. Click on that. Under "Preferences" go to the Activity setting.select it.  For a walk, I have mine set so it tracks automatically.  Switching that off should prevents your device from assuming you are actually on a walk when your not. I have it set off on mine and it does exactly that.  I hope this is the answer your looking for.  Please let us know whether this addresses the issue.

Hi

I have mine turned off. Everything is set so walk detection is turned off but after I have been walking a short time charge 6 vibrates and shows WALK DETECTED. I am waiting for google support to get back to me after being on chat with them for over an hour last night. I think this has happened since one of the recent updates.

@Groggle   This screen is my Luxe.  The basic navigation is identical to your Charge 6.  Two swipes to the left get you to a screen that looks like mine.  This screen is the Exercise app I mentioned in my first post.  Mine says RECENTS at the top because I've used my Exercise app.  Yours won't say RECENTS.  I can't show you the Auto-start toggle because it isn't available on the Luxe.

On my Luxe, my screen will show other shortcut options when I swipe up on the "^" you see on my photo.  You might need to swipe up to find Walk,  Tap on walk to go to the Walk settings.  Now swipe up on the "^" and look for Auto-start.

I think you got to your photo by swiping up on the clock face.  You go to your Today stats when you swipe up on the clock face.

Hi

I can only find exercise by swiping up but cannot do anything with it. It won't swipe in any direction or respond to being tapped.

This is as far as I get. It will not show anything else.

I am waiting for google to get back to me about this but I somehow think they will not.

thanks for trying to help

Take care

Alan

@Groggle   Please take a look at the Charge 6 Tutorial that is available on your Fitbit app.  Tap on your device battery icon in the upper left of your Fitbit app.  Now tap on your Charge 6 tile.  Go down to Tips & Support, then tap on Tutorial.  There is a step by step demonstration showing you the navigation.  Swiping to the left or right takes you to your apps. You can go in either direction, but you will see options like Notifications, Exercise, Alarms, and Timers.

Thank you so much for posting this, I was able to see how to turn my GPS on.   Had a Versa 2 for 3 years, just purchased a Charge 6 and couldn't see the routes I've walked!   Thank you!
