Charge 6 active zone minutes not accurate.

Charge 6 active zone minutes not accurate. 165 zone minuteswhich I have never had this many on any Charge I had. I am 70 years old and I exercise daily but these zone minutes are way off. I was at 34 zone minutes before I got out of bed.

Hi, @D8 , your Active Zone Minutes are based on your detected heart rate.  Have you checked what the Fitbit recorded as your heart rate during this time?  Your heart rate zones will be based on 220 minus your age, so at age 70 your theoretical maximum heart rate will be 150.  Fitbit personalises your heart rate zones using your “heart rate reserve” which is your maximum heart rate minus your resting heart rate, and divides it into Light, Moderate, Vigorous and Peak (depending on the per cent of your reserve you are using).

You can check what Fitbit calculates as your zones in the app.  From the opening, Today, screen of the app click on Active Zone Minutes and scroll down to see your personalised zones.

If your heart rate is showing as in the Moderate Zone you will earn one AZM for each minute.  However, at Vigorous or Peak you will earn 2 AZMs for every minute.  If you are earning an unusually high number of AZM minutes when you have not been exercising, then either your heart rate is unusually high (perhaps due to stress or illness) or your Fitbit is not correctly detecting your heart rate during that time (possibly due to wearing your Fitbit too loosely or too tight or because of excess sweat, etc, interfering with signal)

If these calculations seem wrong to you, then you can create your own custom zones.

There is definitely a big problem with zone mins. I have a charge 6 and at eight  o'clock every morning my App records that I've got 150 Zone mins and burnt loads of calories when I've been sat on a bus ? My workouts always record the correct Zone minutes. Not sure what's going on

I've got exactly the same issue, the Zone minutes appear the same time each morning when I'm either in bed or on a bus. Definitely something wrong.

Hi, @Bendymavis , I have sometimes found that Fitbit accidentally records a bus journey as an exercise activity - this particularly happens to me on local buses which are not smooth - similar to steps sometimes being recorded when driving on bumpy roads or in cars with dodgy transmission.  Could this be what is happening in your case?

I don't think so as on some days I'm still in bed at the time.
Also I've been in a car or bus other times of the day and it's not recorded
zone mins.
