Charge 6 bands constantly popping off!

So I bought a Charge 6 upgrade from the 5 a few weeks ago and within a day I had lost the watch somewhere because the band just popped off.  After a desperate search I decided to just buy another one and instant regret sunk in when within 20 minutes of wearing it the band just popped off when I brushed against my bed frame.  Thankfully I noticed it and put it back on, but I've noticed over the past few weeks the band constantly just pops off with the slightest but of awkward pressure.  I'm a mechanic, so I'm using my hands all day, and I've NEVER had this problem with any other fitbit over almost a decade.  I'm constantly checking my wrist making sure it hasn't just decided to leap off...  and it's becoming irritating.  It makes me just not want to wear a fitbit anymore.

I'm gonna ask here if anyone (or if FITBIT themselves, god forbid) have a solution for this?  Honestly if it pops off one more time I'm just gonna buy a different brand watch I hate having to be paranoid about it all day.  I wasted $180 once because of this obvious design flaw and I feel like I should just consider the other $180 wasted because it's inevitably going to fall off somewhere I'll lose it again.

I've tried several different bands from different brands because the ones they send with it are trash. All of them pop off just as easy.

Ive had mine for about two weeks now and no issues whatsoever with it coming off, i would return it and get another one...might just be a manufacturers flaw.

Hello @Ace08093

I understand that you aren't using the band that came with your Charge 6. However, does the original Fitbit band come off easily when you attach it to your Charge 6? If so, then there's an issue with the latching mechanism on your device. If you are still within the return window, you should return it for a replacement. Or you can contact Fitbit support (<-- click link) for your options under warranty.

I am using the original band but it is irritating my skin. I bought a Milanese mesh one and it kept popping off didn't have this issue with the charge 4. Very disappointing.

I am having the same issue. It fell off today while shopping and now it won't turn on.

I ended up using some gorilla glue and gluing the band clips into the device.  Did that about a month ago and it's been solid, so F it.  I'll just have to get creative if something ever happens to the band.

I almost returned mine, but decided to call Fitbit first. The guy walked me through it, and there is a little extra pressure needed to get the "click." You'll hear a tiny one once it's finally locked in. Until then, the band will seem inserted correctly; yet, it continuously falls out if you move the wrong way. So, press softly, but firmly straight inward and listen for it. Once you get the "click," it does not come back out unless you unlatch the tiny levers. Look carefully, once it has clicked and latched, there is zero gap between the levers and the face. (Before it clicks, there's still a teeny gap between the levers and the face.)

@Caz865 I had the same issue, just with the connection at the top of the Charge 6. What I did to address it was to push the release latch the opposite direction (toward the middle of the 'pebble') while holding the band end in the slot, until it clicks. I have a set of 3rd-party bands (that I bought for my Charge 5 originally) and they all have to be connected this way. I didn't have to do that with my Charge 5 ever.

Hope my little trick works for you, but I have suggested it to others here and on Reddit and some have said they couldn't get it to work.

SAME!!!!!!  I have purchased two separate bands, thinking that was the issue, and I just purchased my second Charge 6!  I have NEVER had an issue like this with any of my previous FitBits!

Best Answer

I had the same problem! So frustrating!!!! See above what Myalivvy said. You have to firmly push the band into the tracker until you hear the tiny click.

Best Answer

The little click happens with some bands but not others. It's hit or miss...

I have been having trouble with mine doing the same thing.   I lost mine in the parking lot tonight and happened go back to look for it and found it.

Hi,

I recently bought the Charge 6 and I am experiencing the same issues. I bought 2 additional straps from the FitBit website only for them to constantly pop off - the original strap stays on. I have received a replacement Charge 6 after going through Customer Services, but if anything the replacement is even worse and none of my straps will stay on.

Can confirm this works! Thanks

The same thing happened to me. I returned it and Fitbit sent a new one - no problems with the new one.

My Charge 5 fell off after a few weeks, so I just bought a 6, and it falls off to - Luckily I found it.

I compared the 6 to the 3 - the new design is faulty - the old clip holding the band attached was flush to the base of the case, whereas on the 6 is not recessed at all, or not even flush - it sits up just enough  your wrist can push on it just enough for the band lock to release - this is a serious design issue all 5's and 6's. Fitbit/Google need to send us a refund as this product has serious issues. OR they just want us to through them away and buy the more expensive pixel units!!

Sorry if this is redundant, but when attaching the band to the Charge 6, did you try pushing extra hard on the band until you hear a tiny click? Some of my Charge 6 bands require this to stay on, while others seem not to.

Best Answer

Yes I sure did, it doesnt click in it always pops off.

It's a shame because I like the Milanese bands as the others irritate my
skin.

I hear you, it doesnt seem fair at all.

I must say I never had an issue with the charge 4 it was excellent but the
charge 6 is useless for the bands and their selection of bands are awful.

I wish i never upgraded now but i do like the screen on the charge 6 it has
improved from the charge 4.

Kind Regards
