Charge 6 blank screen after a swim

My charge 6 screen has gone blank after setting it for a swim activity. I have repeatedly tried double tapping, pressing and holding the button on the side of the device for 10 seconds, resetting by pressing the button on the charger 3 times within 8 seconds and uninstalling and reinstalling the app. On several occasions the device has vibrated once but nothing has shown up on the screen. If I put the device on my wrist and remove it I see a green flashing light on the back of the device. Any suggestions other than get it replaced?

Hello @Penflo55 , @Lies06

You might still have the Water Lock feature still turned on.

I found that I had to tap very firmly on the display with some force to turn off the Water Lock feature. Please give this a try and let us know if you were able to restore your display.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. Yes I tried this and had other people try too. No luck sadly. I think I will have to get it replaced.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Penflo55. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 6 display got blank after a swim. I'll be happy to assist.

Could you please try the steps of help article: Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging? in order  to see  if your tracker charges.

Hi, I have been through the article you suggested and I don't think the tracker is charging, or at least not properly. As I mentioned, I do get a vibration from the tracker when I try pushing the button on the charging cable 3 times to reset it and I do see a flashing green light on the back of the tracker when I take it off my wrist, suggesting there is at least some charge present. I tried using the App to see what the charge level is, but I get a message saying I need an update and when I try to update I get a message saying the level of charge is too low.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @YourCrackers. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 6 also shows a black screen after swimming with it. I'll be happy to assist.

  • Could you please let me know if your device shows condensation inside?
  • Do the green lights on the back turn on?
  • Does it vibrate when you press the button?
  • Have you tried restarting your tracker with the instructions of help article: How do I restart my Fitbit device?

Hello @YourCrackers

If the water lock feature was turned on when you went swimming, it might still be on. I found that it took very firm tapping on the display in order to turn off the water lock feature. Please try tapping very firmly on your Charge 6 display to see if that will restore the clock face.
