Charge 6 counting many steps

I am so disappointed with my charge 6. It randomly adds steps to my count. Is there anything I can do beside reset the fitbit?

Moderator edit: clarified subject.

It's good to see you participating for the first time in the community @caf4

I appreciate all the information that you've shared about this situation that you are experiencing with your Charge 6.

Keep in mind the algorithm is designed to look for intensity and motion patterns that are most indicative of people walking and running. When working at a desk, cooking, or performing other activities with arm movements, a device on your wrist may add some steps. When you’re doing activities that involve arm movement, such as working or cooking, you often walk a few steps in-between stationary periods as well, so the device tries to give you credit for those steps. For most customers, the number of extra steps added by arm-based movement isn’t significant when compared to your overall stats.

Before considering other options, and if you still consider the steps are not accurate, please make sure that you've tried the restart procedure as described in this article, then check if you continue to experience the same behavior. In the meantime, you can find more useful information about the accuracy of Fitbit devices and how to adjust your stride length and dominant hand settings here

I have reset, restarted and still not right. Last night I stood up and got 10000 steps. Very frustrated. I have deleted all my steps and reset again. I wore both my apple watch fitbit yesterday and fitbit was adding steps whenever it was in the mood. Not happy. Software problem?

Welcome back to the community @caf4.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

Please, make sure to not use "Mobile track". It is a service that allows you to count steps using your phone even if you forget to wear your Fitbit.  Steps counted by Mobile Track using your phone will be uploaded to your Fitbit dashboard. It is possible that you set it up unwittingly.

Please in your Today tab, go to the upper left side, tap on the device and phone icon. On the account screen scroll down to "Phone" and click on the 3 dots and choose "unpair".
