Charge 6 disconnects Bluetooth from iPhone every time I initiate exercise

This is the most frustrating thing I have ever encountered with fitbit.

Every single time my Charge6 detects a walk and starts recording (usually at 6m40s of activity), I get a notification that my Bluetooth is disconnected and do I want to share my HR with my iPhone about 20 to 30 seconds later.

Every. Single. Time.

It is beyond annoying.

I didn’t have a single problem with connectivity with my Charge4, and I’m beginning to wish I’d never upgraded.

Hi @Casey76Thanks for stopping by, I hope you're doing well.

I'm glad to help you with the syncing issues you've been experiencing lately with your Charge 6.

First of all ensure your app is up to date. For instructions about how to do it, i recommend to check our help article How do I use the Fitbit app? below the section "How do I update the Fitbit app?". I appreciate your time in this process.

In addition, i suggest that you check our help article Why won't my Fitbit device sync? if you haven't done so.

I hope this tips will be helpful for you. Have a great day!

I’m not having any issues with syncing.  It’s the Bluetooth connection for the HR and exercise monitoring.  I have to manually connect when I begin exercise.  When I’m just bimbling around, there are Bluetooth issues.  Just when I’ve actively started an exercise.

This time of year it means taking a glove off, rolling up a sleeve to tap the screen to manually tap the “share data” button on the Charge4, which is not only annoying, but it is distracting when I am trying to work out/keep splits steady etc

This *only* happens when it is in record workout mode. I get active HR real time syncing during non-exercise time.

Hi @Casey76, thank you for the clarification.

For android devices there's a requirement for background sync. If the Fitbit app doesn’t run in the background, issues with app features may arrive.

This being said, would you be so kind to share a screenshot of the message you are receiving ? I appreciate your time in this process.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Casey and anyone else with this issue,

I have had this problem in the past few months despite not running into it when first using the device.

I may have found a fix:

1. Go to Settings

2. Search for Health app, open its settings area.

3. Scroll to bottom, you probably see your Charge 6, enter that menu. Uncheck Update Health Data.

the issue seems to not be the device disconnecting from Bluetooth as you said Casey, but the health app detects a workout, and pretends to be a fitness device and wants that data shared with it. Your workout, heart rate, etc, are ALREADY shared with the Health app via FitBit. You don’t need to have it connect to the device as well.

If this doesn’t fix it let me know, I literally only just figured this out after reading your post, poking around the settings area, and trial error. But I haven’t been on a walk myself so I won’t know for sure! It’s been annoying me for months because it prevents connecting to other devices that you want the Fitbit to sync with on demand (exercise EQ or in my case Pulsoid running in another device).
