Charge 6 heart rate not accurate when exercising

I bought the Charge 6 because it supposedly had the most accurate heart rate monitoring.  It is accurate when *resting* but when I am exercising, it does not ever go above 100. From using prior devices I obviously know when I am jogging that the heart rate is elevated, but I get no zone minutes now because of this issue.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I have tried restarting it, wiping it off, adjusting the band, all the usual tricks. The band is kind of weird on this model so maybe I can't tighten it enough?  Do I need to have a special band for exercising?

Before I had a luxe and half the time it could not find a heart rate at all when I was exercising and it would register maybe half of my zone minutes, but now with the Charge 6 it seems to always pick up the heart rate, but the readings are just wrong and I get zero zone minutes.  It is the most frustrating thing.  I want to enjoy my workouts not be frustrated by my fitbit not working.  It will auto-recognize a run, but yet say my heart rate is avg. 96 the WHOLE TIME during the exercise.  If it can't accurately monitor exercise, really what is the point?

Same here. I’ve been using Fitbit for 10 years, first had a watch then Charge 2, 3, 5 and now Charge 6 so I have a pretty good idea of my heart rate at a particular pace. The Charge 6 recorded it the usual way for about a week after I switched but one day it started showing Light when I was going at a pace that usually puts me in Vigorous. I tried all the tricks that you did but it continues to keep me in Light no matter how fast I go. I’ve got a Garmin in my cart at Amazon and am just about ready to hit send.
