Charge 6 is not accurately tracking mileage

My charge 6 suddenly stopped accurately tracking my miles.  One daily walking exercise I do is 3.3 miles.  However doing it today it recorded 2.1 miles.  Have reset Fitbit, this does not make sense.  As soon as I leave I tap walk on Exercise to begin and end when I get home.  Is there something else I need to do?  Thanks

Hello @bon52

It looks like your walk was recorded as km instead of miles: 3.3 km = 2.05 mi

Is this a new problem that you just recently started seeing? Have you had a chance to check the Fitbit settings to see if your distance units got switched to km?

  • Tap on your picture in the upper right of the Today page in the Fitbit app
  • Tap on Fitbit settings in the menu that opens
  • Tap on Date, time, & units under App settings
  • Confirm that Length shows Feet, Miles. If it doesn't, tap on it to change the units.

Please let us know if you're still seeing the problem after checking your Length units.

I was going to report exactly the same problem which began very recently.

But, having opened up the application to quote some exact figures, it seems that the problem has been addressed (today, the issue existed this morning). The correct distance of 5.3 miles is no longer changing to a value of 3.3 'miles'. The distance is correctly recorded as 5.3 miles and the subsequent calcuations, e.g. average pace, are back to the expected values.

I was wrong yesterday, the issue is not corrected, it just displays/calculates randomly. The 'exercise days' weekly summary display always shows the correct distance e.g. 5.34 miles. But when you select a specific walk, the distance and pace values are randomly incorrect. Sometimes the display will show 5.34 miles, but mostly its incorrect indicating 3.32 miles.

Mine is still posting randomly as well. Tues shows 3.09 miles, Wed shows 2.26, roughly same amount of time, we walk in 2 neighborhoods, don’t understand why it keeps doing random mileage.  Yesterday I posted this and got a message it was taken down “inappropriate “. I’m confused why this question is “inappropriate “, I’m hoping someone at Fitbit can explain this!

I note that Fitbit has updated to version 4.38. This has not fixed the issue with the reported distances of walk (and perhaps others?) activities.

(1) If I look at the exercises for 'This Week', there are 3 Walks shown, 6.51, 5.3 and 5.34 miles. These are correct values.

(2) Click on the 5.34 mile walk to go to the detail display. The distance is now shown incorrectly as 3.32 miles and the average pace computed using the 3.32 distance value. When you initially get to the detail page, randomly you will see the correct distance value, e.g. 5.34 and the see it overwritten with the incorrect value e.g. 3.32.

(3) Click back one level to the 'This week' page. The 3 walks are now shown as 6.51, 5.3, and 3.32.

(4) Rinse and repeat with the other 2 walks. and you end up with 4.05, 3.3, and 3.32 on the 'This week' page.

(5) Exit Fitbit.

(6) Start Fitbit

(7) Go Back to step (1) above. 'This Week' displays 6.51, 5.3, 5.34.

It would seem that the displayed values are from temporary variables which are initialized to the correct distance in miles, then overwritten with incorrect values when the detail page is called up. Exiting Fitbit and starting over causes the temporary variables to be initialized again with the correct values

It appears the the recent update to Fitbit 4.39.2 has addressed this issue. The walk activities from last week no display correctly and the pace calculation is correct.

Hello @MH42

Thanks for letting us know that you've seen improvement after updating to app version 4.39.2. Hopefully, this means the fix has been rolled out.
