Charge 6 not recording sleep

My new Charge 6 (bought Dec 24) either records no sleep or occasionally the odd hour.

I've read all the previous threads and taken all the advice given;

Checked settings, reinstalled app, turned Bluetooth on and off, changed wrists, worn on the inside of wrist, added a sleep schedule, checked battery level, restart fitbit

I can't amend the data, as nothing there to amend

My fitbit charge 4 (worn before this one) had also stopped recording sleep properly, heart rate recording is working fine

Is there anything else I can do?

Thank you

Hello @JulieJE22

By any chance, are you also having issues with heart rate tracking? Do you see a green light on the back of your Charge 6? The green light is the heart rate sensor and is used for sleep tracking. To check, place your finger across the back of the device. You should see a green light when you lift your finger.

If you don't see the green light, the first place to check is the Settings menu on your Charge 6:

  • Swipe down from the clock face until you get to the Settings tile (last one) and tap on it
  • Swipe up until you see Heart rate and confirm that it's turned on. If it isn't on, tap on it to turn it on.

Try running an ECG test with your Charge 6.

It the ECG test returns anything other than a 'Normal sinus rhythm', then chances are good that may the reason you aren't getting sleep stages.

The Sleep algorithm must be able to measure Heart Rate Variability accurately to determine sleep stages and it appears that the new heart rate measurement algorithm that was introduced in the latest 210.26 firmware doesn't measure HRV very reliably when there is a heart arrhythmia.

Many thanks for the response, no issues with my heart rate being recorded, I have trend data from the day I started wearing the Charge 6 - but I did also check the settings and heart rate is turned on

Thank you for replying  - I've just run the ECG and it said "normal sinus rhythm"

Hello @JEStraw-kitson

Please give us more details about the unreliable sleep tracking that you're experiencing so that we can suggest troubleshooting. What are you seeing that makes you believe your tracked sleep data is unreliable?
