Charge 6 randomly switches device it’s paired to.

I bought the charge 6 after my luxe would stop working until it was put on the charger & I would lose whatever sleep, steps, Zone minutes that hadn’t loaded to the app- this happened at least once a day.

My Charge 6 was working great and now I have to have Bluetooth forget the device and pair it to my iPhone again. Sometimes this happens several times a day.

what’s worse is that I usually use my iPad, and when I open Fitbit app on my iPad, it asks me if I want to pair the Charge 6 to the iPad- I select ‘cancel’ & it pairs the Charge 6 to the iPad(no pairing code). It doesn’t tell me that it paired it- it just does it and then I struggle to figure out why Fitbit app on my iPhone won’t sync with my Charge 6.

this is very frustrating and wastes a lot of my time. I saw the latest firmware has Bluetooth changes, but it’s not showing as available for me yet 😢

what’s going on? I never had a pairing issue with my Luxe where it would change what device it was paired to unless I was the one who switched which device it was paired to. I wouldn’t expect to have an issue with my Charge 6. Sure hope the newest firmware fixes this issue. Of course it would help if I could install it now instead of having to await until I see update available in the Fitbit app.

Hi @Js2222,wWelcome to the Fitbit Community! It's great to have you here!

Let me help you with the connectivity of your Charge 6. Thank you for the efforts you have already tried.

It sounds strange that you select cancel pairing and the device does it anyway. Did you setup your Charge 6 from your iPad?

On the other hand, once you connect your Fitbit device to your mobile during setup, a link is made and no need to pair through bluetooth settings is required.

If you are having syncing issues between your mobile and your Fitbit device, Follow the troubleshooting steps listed in our help article Why won't my Fitbit device sync? I appreciate your time in this process.

Thanks for your response.

no, I set up the Charge 6 from my IPhone initially.

I turned off Bluetooth on my iPad and I don’t see that the iPad is trying to pair the Charge 6, but I do use a couple other devices that need Bluetooth, so that’s not feasible in the long run. So I did turn Bluetooth on again

i turned off the Background App Refresh for the Fitbit app on my iPad, but left it on for my iPhone. Don’t know if that will work.

a lot of the time my phone told me to delete the  Charge 6 from  iPhone’s Bluetooth & it will request to pair it. When that doesn’t work, I have to delete the Charge 6 from Fitbit app on my iPhone & attempt to re-pair it where I have to enter the code after the app finds the charge 6. Sometimes that takes several tries(and no I did not have Fitbit Charge 6 on the charger). If it doesn’t find the Charge 6, then I have to go over to my iPad and if its Bluetooth shows the Charge 6 connected, I have to forget that device for Bluetooth. Then I delete the charge 6 from the Fitbit app on my iPad. And then I can usually pair the Charge 6 with my phone again.

i had mentioned that on my iPad, Fitbit asks to pair the Charge 6 to the iPad- when I select Cancel. It pairs it anyway but I have never seen the pairing code appear!

I did read the Information about syncing. It was my understanding that a Fitbit could only be connected to one device. That is what I did with my Luxe, and what I attempt to do with the Charge 6. that syncing article you gave me the link for makes it sound like I can only have the Fitbit app on one device. I like seeing Fitbit app information on my iPad because the screen is larger and easier to read. But the phone is smaller, so more portable when outside the house.
