Hey everyone,
Thanks a lot for all the updates you have shared with us so far; it is really appreciated!
Let me confirm that we are actively looking for a solution to this issue and looking forward to getting you all back on track. Since we are still looking into this issue, and as some of you have already found, there is a small workaround. Please do the following:
By doing this, your device might stop popping up this icon. I hope this is helpful for you while we work on getting an actual solution!

I think it means that the Fitbit isn’t currently connected to your phone.

@RebelReynolds It means that you phone isn't currently connected, just like @Ian62westley wrote. It is one of four Status Indicators in the firmware update that is rolling out. This article from 9to5google explains all four indicators.
These indicators were introduced on the Sense and Versa 3. I was able to control them in the Settings app on the Fitbit itself. I'm still waiting on this update for my Sense 2. So I don't know if the controls will be in the same place on my Sense 2.

Hi! This keeps happening to me. Except that little icon will appear even when my Bluetooth is connected.
I also can’t seem to get my Fitbit to stay connected to my phone. It will randomly disconnect. I reached out to support and they had no answers for me.

When I check the connection, it says my phone is, in fact, connected. The icon covers my heart rate every few seconds, and is so infuriating.

I've noticed this, too! About half the time I try to use Find My Phone, it doesn't work even though I'm standing right next to my phone. It's like the connection is sporadically lost (or thinks it is), even when I have Bluetooth on...

I had it. I was also having sync problems. I went through a lot of Bluetooth stuff but finally cleared the problem by going to my phone's connected device screen and "forgetting" my Charge 6 then opening the Fitbit app and re-pairing through the Fitbit dialog. Now it works great and I get no little disconnected icon on my Fitbit.
The problems started with the 4.40 update.

I fixed this issue on my charge 6 by going into settings and changing screen time out to medium. The phone icon with the line through it has disappeared.

If you go to settings and Fitbit app chances are your location is set to “while using” once you switch it to “Always” the icon will disappear from Fitbit 👍🏾

Hi thanks for your help, I changed the location to always and restarted my watch. Unfortunately it didn't work.

Hi Yes I did a restart, seems nothing works! I really am not liking this new charge 6 had features I will never use, ie GPS, youtube music etc. No stair counting and this constant cell phone icon with a slash through it. I guess I will be calling support again as the fix they provided me last week didn't work. I read online that there was a firmware update that is suppose to fix this issue, however, I can't find anyway to download it.

The firmware update didn’t solve the problem of phone with slash through it! Just restarted my charge 6, it used 3% battery! Battery life is rubbish! Having to charge at least every other day!

Hi have been on the phone with support 4 times this past week and a half. Every agent has tried something different to correct this issue including the final attempt today doing a factory reset. As this problem is not solvable I returned my Fitbit to the store I purchased if from and told them it was defective which I believe it is. I replaced it with another charge 6 only to have the same issue again. So I took that Fitbit back and got another one. I find it interesting that the support at Fitbit advised this is not a known issue. I beg to differ as clearly buying two fitbits and both with the exact same issue indicates a defect and they should roll a fix for that!
