Charge 6 stopped tracking sleep

All of a sudden my Charge 6 (relatively new) stopped tracking sleep so I am no longer getting a sleep score.

I tried the reset to no avail. Any suggestions?

Same problem here. In 14 days i only have a score from 2 nights.

So this is REALLY annoying, but I think I found a workaround. For whatever reason, my new Fitbit Charge no longer syncs sleep accurately. But... if I go in and delete the sleep log, and then manually add it back in, it then does a proper analysis and scoring. The only problem is that I have to do this every god **ahem** day. It always used to just work. I'm not sure what the problem is, but hoping it's something they can address in a Firmware update.

I have the same issue: all of a sudden my Charge 6 (relatively new) stopped tracking sleep. This answer does not really answer the question.

This happened before and I called support and they walk me through a hard rest. The unreliability is the worst thing for such a device. Soft reset instructions on the help page does not work by the way.

I had the same problem. Since I regularly clean the device and wear it on the outside of my wrist during the day and wear it (low) on the inside of my wrist when I go to sleep, the sleep scores are visible again.
I wear my Charge6 on the non-dominant wrist and have set my sleep goal to 6 hours.

My procedure:
1: I move the Charge6 from the outside of the wrist to the low inside of my wrist and tighten the band quite firmly.
2: On my phone's app I click on the + symbol (button) and press 'start sleep'. I leave the app on and place my phone with the screen on my bedside table.
3: On the Charge6 I scroll up and turn sleep mode on.
4: I go to bed and go to sleep.
When I wake up:
1: I pick up my phone and click on the text 'I'm awake' and wait a few seconds.
2: Then I click on the Charge6 battery symbol at the top left of the app to go to the sync mode and click on sync now.
3: I wait a moment, go back to the main screen of the app and swipe from top to bottom so that it starts syncing again.
4: On the Charge6 I scroll up again and turn off the sleep mode.
5: I look at the app and the sleep score is visible.

Maybe my replay can help you and others.

I have a Charge 4  (Bought in 2019) that just recently stopped tracking my Sleep stages.    Tried all the recommendations with the exception of wearing it on the inside of my wrist at night.   I will try that tonight.      I was doing some last minute research before heading to Best Buy to buy a Charge 6 and have discovered that upgrade may be no better.   Started with a fit bit 1 in 2014 and have been spoiled by high quality long lasting devices.   I hope they find a solution and push it our to all their customers soon!    Your bedtime and wake up process is much harder than it should be!

Same problem, no sleep ttacking since Monday. I've tried all the fixed except a factory reset which I might try later...

The last thing I want to be doing when I wake up is reaching for my phone! it's worked perfectly for the three weeks i've had the device. Seems to be quite a common problem but i'm struggling to find a definitive reason or fix.

That sounds a lot like mine. I've only had it a couple weeks. It has only tracked sleep a few nights and most of those are very wrong. Last night I was in bed by 11:30 and up at 7:30. According to my fitbit I only had 1.5 hrs. from 5:25 am to to 6:52 am. I sleep on my back & move very little. My Charge 5 was very accurate. I didn't change, the Fitbit did.

I'm hoping some update comes along to fix it, worked perfectly for a while 🤔

I hit the start sleeping button on my app, then turned it off in the morning but like I said, that's not ideal.

I'd do a hard reset to see if that fixed the problem but don't want to loose my data.

When it does record -- it does this.

WHERE IS SOMEONE FROM FITBIT TO HELP ADDRESS THIS?!

Best Answer

Flipping it to the inside of my wrist has helped. It has been quite
accurate all week

----

Right after I posted this it stopped working again. Wed. I went to bed at 11pm. Fitbit measured sleep from 3:56 am to 8:01am! I always fall asleep in minutes.

Last night it was accurate without turning it.

It's not how snug the band is, not where it is positioned, not full charge or low, not how I lay in bed. It is random & frequent.

I logged a case for my charge 4. We tried 6 different things (with a
night in between to test). Each time the support person was very good,
gave clear instructions and was helpful. The wait time to get to the
support person was very short as well.
I got an update from Support last night and they are releasing an updated
app in a few days that they expect will fix it. Since the app is for the
phone and not the device I'm assuming it may resolve the Charge 6 issue as
well. We all have 3 variables, the device, the phone and the fit bit app
on the phone. Drilling down to the root cause does take testing and a
team effort.. Watch for an application update on your phone and if that
doesn't fix your issue I encourage you to call support and go through the
steps to root cause. I was looking on this site to research if updating
my charge 4 to a charge 6 would fix my problem. I'm glad I chose to log a
case first!

Thanks, but it’s ridiculous that anyone should have to use such a complicated workaround. Like others, I suspect this is a case of Google just not caring, since, by most accounts, fitbit devices have been solid until they took over.

This also worked for me!

Mine says it's synced to phone but remains no data since January 25. 1
month after I received it

Exact same issue for me. I pay over $100 for this thing plus a non-refundable $90 subscription and there is zero customer support for this.

This is what I get when I don’t follow my intuition on putting faith in a company bought by Google.

I had this issue with the Charge 5, mine just stopped recording my sleep properly, then it stopped recording it at all except on random days.

Reset the unit, fully charged, tried inside and outside wrist on left and right arm.

removed it from the fitbit app, removed the app, cleared the data etc.

Then my wife's fitbit 5 refused to acknowledge that there's an update, and wouldn't update anymore.
I gave her mine as it updated and she doesn't care about sleep tracking.

I then got a Charge 6 against my better judgment and it's doing the exact same thing.
It's amazing, Google takes over things and then it turns to trash. What a waste of money, 180$ CDN.

I haven't changed anything about my sleep behaviour, nothing is different in the house.

I did have my router rebooting at 3 AM every day and thought maybe the internet/ WIFI going out was causing issues, but disabled that in the router 4 days ago, nothing has changed.
The other issue is that basically because the Fitbit is giving inconsistent results, that means you can't trust any of it's results. So when it says I slept from 3:50AM - 6:50AM that's clearly not accurate, and when it says I slept from 9:30 - 6:30 and gives me a good score, that's also not accurate, because why would I ever trust this product again?

I bought my charge 6 in May and sleep tracking worked fine. 5 days ago it suddenly stopped working.

this does not answer the problem. The charge sakes does not work. It does not track nor heart rate after a few days bought it brand new so disappointed.
