Charge 6 tells me that 15,561 steps is 0.39 miles

My new Inspire 6 tells me that 15,561 steps is 0.39 miles which works put to 1.6 inches per step.

I suppose that you mean Charge 6. 

Please try to restart the device and see if the information is the same: How do I restart my Fitbit device?

@Ron162 This is a known issue right now. Try setting your stride length manually.

1. From the Today tab, tap Exercise days.
2. Tap the three dots "..." in the upper right hand corner, then tap Activity Settings, scroll down to Stride Length.
3. Adjust your stride length.

If you're on iOS, you might have to scroll down far enough to see the Stride Length option. Android settings might look a little different.
