My charge 6 credits me with having done zones minutes when I haven't been exercising. Also, I can't get it to alert me when my heart rate goes up very high (instead it just records this as exercise in various zones). Anyone know what I can do about this? Thanks.

@Teresa0005000 Zone minutes are heart rate based, so you will earn them if your heart rate is elevated and you aren't moving. If you are using the High heart alert, keep in mind that your heart rate must be above the threshold for at least 10 minutes and you must be at rest.

I get zone minutes all the time while not doing an exercise... as Laurie mentioned, it's just heart rate related - so when your rate exceeds the threshold, you earn minutes. Doing anything relatively strenuous will earn them... unloading heavy groceries from the car, moving furniture around, working out in the yard, cleaning out the garage, etc... You do not have to be in an 'exercise' mode to earn minutes.

Thanks for the reply. I get what you're saying, but sometimes I get a high heart rate when at rest, something my cardiologist treks me to look out for. I just don't understand why these episodes are scored as zone minutes.

@Teresa0005000 Zone minutes use just the heart rate data, not heart rate plus movement data. You will get them for an high heart rate at rest.

The same thing was happening to me. I'd be sitting there watching TV or just typing on the computer and my HR would jump up to over 140 or so for no reason. It would stay there for some random amount of time, and then drop back to normal, again, for no apparent reason. Turns out that those were AFib (Atrial fibrillation) events that the watch was seeing. And yes, they generated lots of zone minutes.
Doesn't happen any longer though... for a reason. Disclaimer, I'm not a cardiologist and you should see yours before doing anything. But this is what happened to me. My cardiologist sent me to a specialist who does heart ablation to treat afib. He told me that if I had sleep apnea, any amount of surgery probably wouldn't help, so he sent me to a sleep specialist first - who did the overnight test on me (at home with a monitor). Turns out I had severe sleep apnea, which was causing me all sorts of physical problems, including the afib. Got put on a CPAP machine, and the apnea has now stopped, as has my random afib events. Haven't had one since, and it's been almost a year now. No more random zone minutes - to get them now, I really have to work at it!

Thank you so much for that. I will definitely discuss my options with cardiologist.

Thanks for that. I wonder if there might be a more suitable device for me.
