Charge 6: transfer to my existing Google account failed

I have two accounts with Fitbit:

Account 1 -- with the email address I've been using for my Charge 5 till now;

Account 2 -- with my (only) gmail address that I used some time ago for an old fitbit and is still alive.

I got my new Charge 6 device. In setting up, I was forced to move from Account 1 to a Gmail account, and I followed the instructions to move to Account 2. But the transfer was unsuccessful at Step 1: When I chose my only Google account (Account 2), it said, "This email is used with a different Fitbit account," and asked me either (1) to sign out of Fitbit or (2) to choose a different Google account. However, if I used my Google account, the app asked me to transfer/move to a Google account.

How can I solve this stupid problem? I look forward to your kind help. Thank you.

@SunsetRunner I don't think you can solve it. Only way is either to start using account 2 or creating new gmail account. Although, you may try to close Fitbit account 2 (delete it) but it isn't quick process (and from my experience not always successful) and this may release your gmail address (it may, I don't know if it will). Fitbit customer support has very little tech knowledge (if any) so they unlikely be any help. Fitbit platform may have no ability to re-assign email address or solve it any other way either. Although miracles happen, ie. when my wife hijacked my Strava premium by opening her own trial using my google play account Strava was able to clean it up and give me my premium back and I had doubts about it before reaching them. So won't it hurt to contact Fitbit (although it may be frustrating experience).

@Triletics Thanks for your reply. I registered a new Gmail and it went through. After that my previous Fitbit account was no longer usable. Fitbit+Google is a ridiculous bundle 😄

You really are not moving to a Google Account, but lounging in with your Google ID. Glad you got it working.

Since you don't use account 2 I would have suggested closing that account, and having it deleted.

I have a similar problem; two Gmail accounts, I always used the first one for Fitbit, but when I tried to transfer the account over to Google, it failed.  Apparently because it's a Google Workspace acccount, it can't be used with Fitbit.  So I created an account with my other Gmail, only to find that I can't log into the app because the app doesn't have the "Login with Google" option, and the password on the account doesn't work with the regular Fitbit login.  So I tried Reset Password, only I never get the email message (and I've tried repeatedly).  So I went into the Live Chat to ask for assistance, but I got told to try resetting my password and waiting for the email... Which never comes.

@DarkPhoenixFF4 go to your app settings found in the fitbit app. I'm assuming that you can still log in.

Tap the top right, then settings.

Scroll to the bottom this is where I found a Move to Google login.

The only thing I have in the top right is the Messages inbox.  And it really doesn't matter if I can find the link or not, because the app crashes on any attempt to move.  And when I managed to get around that and try, I got told that my account "could not be moved to Google because it's a Google Workspace account".

I have this exact same problem.  When you say the previous Fitbit account was no longer usable - does it at least carry forward the historic data into the new account? I have been a Fitbit user since 2014 and the Charge 6 is my 4th generation device - I don't want to lose all that historic info...
