Do you prefer Charge 2 or Charge 6? And, why?

ANSWERED

Hi,

I lost my Charge 2, and, looking to get another tracker. I am thinking of staying in the Charge family. The things I care the most about are step counts, ability to turn off infrared emitter (HR), and, notifications (including from Find My on IPhone). It appears I can still purchase a new Charge 2 on eBay for $70. Do you recommend going to Charge 6 or staying with Charge 2?

Thanks, Sel

Hello @SelFit and welcome to the Community. Stay away from that Charge 2.

  • Rechargeable batteries degrade even if they are in their original sealed package.  There are reports from other users who bought Fitbits from that same time (2016 or so) and the batteries were dead and it won't charge.
  • That Charge 2 has the firmware from when it was manufactured.  Fitbit removed all firmware updates from these older model trackers.  You won't be able to update it.
  • The HR emitter is LED, not infrared.  You can't turn it off on any current model.

The Charge 6 has the ECG and EDA features.  The EDA is a stress management tool.  You might not be interested in that hardware.  The Inspire 3 is actually the closest to your Charge 2 as far as features go.  The Inspire 3 doesn't have an altimeter, so it doesn't count floors.  But the Charge 6 doesn't have one, either. The Charge 2 has an anodized aluminum case, but I think the Inspire 3 has a plastic case.
