Did you mean:

Does Fitbit require an app. Or can it work on its own.

Hi Support,

I have purchased Charge 6 gadget for my daughter and I do not know how to pair it with the phone. The app sucks I have installed it on my phone and I can see Charge 6 as an option but on my daughter's phone such option does not exist. There are a few devices marked for kids but Charge 6 is not listed.

At this point I am considering 3 options:

1. return this thins as useless and purchase something from China.

2. run it stand alone if possible

3. get a feasible 3rd party app for her phone.

I am looking for your recommendations.

Thank you very much for your help.

Tom

Hello @Astrophoto and welcome to the Community.  You need the Fitbit app to use a Fitbit.  It can't collect data until it is paired to an account and it must be an unsupervised Google account.  There are two possible issues here:

  • The minimum age is 13 and older in the US and 16 and older in some other countries.  This is because of children's internet privacy protection laws.
  • If you use Google Family Link, that is a supervised account.  I can't give specifics, because this issue doesn't affect my family.  But she needs an unsupervised account.
