I'm so annoyed about this. The vast majority of the time, I sleep really well, 7-8h per night without waking up.
But as soon as I wear my fitbit, I can't sleep. It feels like someone is watching me and I get so anxious about it constantly tracking that I cannot fall asleep. It's also kind of uncomfortable, even though I wear it quite loosely at night.
It's such a shame because I find the extra insight I get from wearing it to sleep super interesting. I enjoy looking at my sleep patterns (on the rare occasions that I do get to sleep with it on), the stress management features and daily readiness score. But I've pretty much just given up trying now because it literally isn't worth losing sleep over.
Has anyone else had the same experience?

It's a form of observer effect known as the Hawthorne Effect. From Wikipedia: "The Hawthorne effect is a type of human behavior reactivity in which individuals modify an aspect of their behavior in response to their awareness of being observed".
Maybe if you keep wearing it for a while you'll relax and forget it's on.

I experienced something similar but think it was purely physical - the band requires some getting used to (swapping tthe armband for a more breathable one may help). I am not that obsessed about the data but the smart alarm is a life changer for me - I am struggling to get up before 5am astronomical for the whole duration of the Morning Light Deprivation Time ( also known as Summer Time). Still, I am happy to take the band off on weekend nights.
